When do wallpapers work?

Are these used for screen savers or what? Do I need to unlock or jailbreak my phone first? I'll be getting a new iPhone (my first iPhone) this week!! I would love to have a nice screensaver if it is possible.

No you do not have to jailbreak the phone. The wallpaper is not a screen saver. The wallpaper is when you wake the phone the wallpaper shows up when you slide to unlock, then is replaced by the home screen.

You can load a wallpaper into your photos, or use a photo. Just go to photos, click a pic, then lower left button, then select wallpaper.

If you are talking of a theme, then you will need to jailbreak.
