by kameron
This is an excerpt of a supposed leaked keynote highlighting details about the iPhone for this coming MacWorld 2008. As with anything “leaked”, take it with a grain of salt. (Source: Void Inside (http://voidin.blogspot.com/2008/01/macworld-2008-keynote-leaked.html))

This post is from http://www.iphoneskinning.com/2008/01/leaked-macworld-2008-keynote.html

This list sounds very reasonable to me, and is probably very similar to what will be heard at Macworld. Any thoughts?

Interesting, but what happened to update 1.2??

This says 1.3 or do they mean 1.1.3?

Did anyone NOT know this was going to happen?

TOO LATE!

Thank god for Jailbreak.

I can buy all of that. Unlike most leaks, this one seems well written, has a deadline, and does not encompass everything everyone wants. The reason I made the last comment was that most rumored updates seem to include to me the big three: video, MMS, and cut and paste. This not including any of those seems more of a reality.

With the MacWorld theme "Somthing in the air" you can see it is all about the wifi...buying...syncing etc.

I could be wrong, but what I'm reading from the OP, tells me this. The Apps that everyone has enjoyed on their iPhone (through modding) for free, will now start to move towards "Fee Based" items..Mark

Excellent, this looks to be very promising.

While I'll be glad if that ALL comes true, I highly doubt it. We've had what, 3 updates since launch? Even the "major" ones didn't include THAT many features. Just seems like a lot for an Apple update.

I'd like to know how they can release it in March in Japan when NTT DoCoMo have no GSM/EDGE service at all. It would have to be 3G and I have a hard time believing they'd release a 3G model that soon, and in Japan first--and why wouldn't 3G be in the keynote?

I also have a hard time believing those prices. To me the $6.99 cap is too low for the kind of software that the iPhone is capable of running. This is cheaper than many apps for competing platforms and if true means we won't see those apps. Or it could mean the SDK will be so limited that the only apps possible are low-grade, not worth more than $7, at the most.

Time will tell...

I think in order to compete at all in Japan, they would have to go with 3G.

Well, if we could only get half of that....that would be great!!! :laugh2:

Starting today: 8GB $399, 16GB $499

I really (selfishly) hope the "starting today" part is wrong, because that temptation would be too much to resist. It would probably make me sell my blackberry and my 8 gig touch......

While it's coming straight from the Rumor Mill, it does seem like it's at least somewhat plausible. I'm still not holding my breath but I wouldn't be too disappointed if this leak was true. However, the mention of the "new" 16GB iPhone says nothing about 3G but it's going to Japan, as Mike stated. The CEO of AT&T said there would be a 3G iPhone stateside but there's no mention of that, so that's a bit off. Also, with the Apps, I think Mike is right on that one too, $7 apps just seem too good to be true (as in, I would expect them to be more expensive) so hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.

And also about the revenue sharing. The apps could be cheaper because of mass quantity of projected downloads.

I thought 3g was nonexistant in Japan...

No they are 3G and have been so far ahead of the USA.

(I like this Avatar the best...is OJ still in the can)?

Ah, I didn't really think of the possibility of the "discounted bulk price" but that could be a possibility. I just hope there's something good enough that would make me want to restore my very personalized iPhone in exchange for something that would make my phone look like everyone else's again. *Sigh*

I like that avatar the best too OJ, just for the record.

this also applies to us.

One More Thing
- Been brewing for a while
- YouTube's been in Apple TV and iPhone/iPod touch: now it's in iTunes
- Download YouTube videos straight to iTunes or from iPhone/iPod Touch for later offline viewing (sync back to computer)
- Coming in iTunes 7.6 and iPhone/iPod Touch 1.3 updates

Correction on NTT Docomo's technology:

http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/18/iphone-coming-to-japans-ntt-docomo/

Although AT&T's loose lips didn't quite sink the ship, there is no mention of a 3G release in the US or any mention of A2DP?
