Is anyone else sick of this phone yet?? I had it modified at one point and it did nothing for me...now its not modified and its probably one of the most boring phones ive ever had! i'm seriously debating going back to the blackberry!!! Apple needs to either step up the updates, or give us 1 huge update with everything that every other phone comes standard with!!! We paid all this money for this phone and got nothing compared to a phone that costs 50 bucks!! I think if i can find a buyer for my phone, then i'm done with it!!!

Yes I do wish there was more to it and it does piss me off but I would never go back to my treo or to a blackberry. ShhhhiiiiT I almost bought the newest berry at the time instead of iphone I am glad I got this phone. First time ever im happy with my phone after a month

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The iPhone is not for everyone. There are some things it does better, and some things it lacks. I've had the fortune of using Windows mobile devices as well as a Blackberry for work.
Apple owes us nothing. There are always choices. Sometimes you have to get your fingers burned.

Well it doesn't help my opinion of this phone when i have gone through 5 of them in less than a year because of some kind of malfuntion! First the speaker blows out after a week, then a month later it wouldn't read the Sim card....then a few weeks ago it just stopped working all together, couldn't update contacts...internet wasn't working, returned it and received another broken one where the wifi didn't have an option to be turned on....quite annoying!! But thats the story of my life!

that's all because you touch yourself and burned ants as a kid. You haven't beat up a handicap person recently have you? Haha
....quite annoying!! But that's the story of my life!
I would definitely look at getting another story or another life then, rather than worrying about a phone FFS!

I love my iPhone, and it's stock. I'll never have the ability to go back to another phone.
If it's not for you, that's absolutely fine. Each to their own. However, I suggest you wait to after the MacWorld Expo (Tuesday) and the SDK, in February. Both will being things for the iPhone.

I don't think a gorilla could brake five iPhones in six months.
I'm not saying your some sort of clumsy bumbling idiot or anything, it just seems odd that you would have FIVE defective devices, that's all.
...if it walks like a duck....
Remove all of the variablity from the problem and your left with a constant, which is the cause.

I am not sick of the iPhone. I just lovingly cleaned it with some rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth. And I am surfing around on IEC on my iPhone while enjoying some football on TV with husband.
I never care to use a clumsy BB device again.

I'm not bored with mine at all after six months. It is still as exciting to me today as it was July 6 when I brought it home. I waited a week from iDay to see if it had bugs and it would be lacking anything I wanted in a phone. When I saw that it was going to be perfect, I bought it and have been loving it ever since.
I had bought a GoPhone to use for extra SMS because I can get get 200 for $4.95 a month. That Samsung Gophone was the most boring thing ever and it took a few extra minutes to text someone even with predictive text turned on. So I decided to buy another iPhone to use as the GoPhone! The iPhone makes texting so fast and easy with it's real on screen keyboard. When I had a Treo, those keys were so small that it was easy to hit the wrong key, I rarely do that on the iPhone.
It is simply put, the BEST phone I have ever used. Now I just a need a case for my second iPhone.

I am not sick of the iPhone and haven't been for a moment since I got it. I also agree that going through 5 "defective" devices seems a bit unlikely but some people just have worse luck than others. I'd really like to see one of those $50 phones that performs tantamount to the iPhone, including the UI and other features.

I got the iPhone the day it came out and periodically I have gotten board with it. So I sell it and play with another device for a while, get sick of it and buy another iPhone. It is a very wastefull cycle but it's one I've been going through since long before the iPhone ever came out. It is a great device but so very far from being perfect. It is almost as if it is still a prototype just waiting for the final touches to be added before final release. What always gets me coming back is with the iPhone I don't have to run bootcamp on my macbook just to sync between my cell and my computer.
The two main unnaceptable issues with the iPhone to me are it dosen't allow a incoming call to interrupt data(a feat. I've been enjoying on edge devices for years) & 80% of the iPhones produced nowadays have the negative black defective screens, at least the last 4 I've had and all my friends ones do too.

Alcohol? Yikes! Did you use it on the screen or just the casing? I presume everything's still OK with your iPhone, but I'd caution folks against using chemicals/solvents to clean it. Definitely on Apple's list (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPhone_User_Guide.pdf) of no-no's (page 27).
My iPhone (still unmodded) is still my favorite gadget, although there are a dozen features I'd like to see added. Good things are on the horizon...

I wanted to mention that to KoKo girl. Alcohol is one of the worst solvents to use on electronics, especially the screen. I didn't post because every time it gets slow, anything one says, is attacked by, "the lurkers"...M

K and iPhonian-I appreciate your concern. I did not pour it or spray it on the phone. I wear makeup and it gets the screen all greasy and stuff. I used a very small amount on the cloth to get the gunk off the screen. I figured it was like using the stuff that you put on your eyeglasses (since the screen in glass). I will be careful, though. John (macmanpro) posted that a bit of alcohol was OK, and he seems more than a little knowledgable to me.
If you guys have a better suggestion of how to get makeup off the iPhone I will take it. Just rubbing the screen with a microfiber cloth does not cut it, and I do not wear a lot of makeup.
thanks!

I've used alcohol since I got my iPhone - July 28th. I take either the cleaning cloth and or a soft washcloth and dab a little bit of it on there, cleaning the entire phone. It dries very quickly and leaves the iPhone shiny. I haven't noticed any problems from using it.

OK. Of course I was getting totally paranoid after K and iPhonian posted I should not use alcohol. I do not do it daily. I am an occasional user of the alcohol rub...I swear.
I will still research alernative cleaning methods.

I only do when there are really mucky spots on it that can't be removed by my shirt. I definitely wouldn't recommend using it on a regular basis.

Try a cloth lightly (and I do mean lightly) dampened with water. Don't get it in the speaker, dry it throughly with a dry cloth, then finish it with the microfiber cloth. Alcohol drys quickly, but it also drys things out. I used to think using Alcohol was alright on electronics, until I read an article in Laptop magazine, describing how destructive alcohol is, on electronics devices...Mark
I'm a little suspicious of this. It's quite unbelievable to me to have so many iPhones be defective out of the box. As for being "bored" by the iPhone, that is also quite unbelievable. If you want it to be more "interesting" to navigate like other phones or make sounds like a Wii then it's definitely not the right phone for you. If you want a full-featured web browser, email, amazing Google Maps integration, phone, and real iPod all in one device then this is the phone for you.

What could the alcohol dry out on the phone that would be bad? I am not getting it in the cracks. I could try the water method, but it would not cut through the gunk as well, of course. I do not think that mens phones get as messy since most men do not wear makeup.
I have only done this 2 or 3 times, honestly. I just could not stand rubbing the grease around anymore today!

I use this cream that keeps my face from getting bumps when I shave. You could probably compare it to the thickness of foundation. It gets gunked up on the screen, but water always removes it. I didn't understand the whole alcohol, destructive thing either. I did take Laptop magazines word for it though. They usually are pretty correct in their writings. I do know that it will surely, dry out the thin screen protectors most of us use on the screen...M

I dont understand how someone could be bored with a telephone.
What did you expect it to do?
Maybe your selections in music and video sucks or maybe you dont know any good websites. My favorites are www.foundmagazine.com, www.overheardinnewyork.com, and www.passiveaggressivenotes.com. All three are updated daily, as are www.joesnyc.com and www.ropeadope.com.

To say that someone's music or video selection sucks or that they dont know any good websites is childish. Your likes and mine differ greatly, and based on the links you provided, the sites you consider good were of no interest to me. I believe it's a matter of taste.
What has my post turned into?????
I dont know what it's turned into; but to answer your original question- Yes, I am bored with mine.
My boredom is just something I, as a consumer, goes through. It has nothing to do with updates or things of that nature. I just tend to get bored with things really fast.
I brought a Wii about 2-3 months ago. Have about 12 games. Barely play any of them. Now, I'm moving on to the PS3- dont know how soon Ill get bored with that.

What I mean is that you get out of it what you put into it. Each of us chooses the content on our own individaul phones, so unless you are bored with your music, movies and web browsing, you shouldn't be bored with your phone. Nothing childish about it. I'm not saying I have better taste and only provided some links that I check daily, keeping me from being bored.

i got bored of the iphone within 2 weeks of having it, unmodded/unjailbroken; so i started doing some research and jailbroke my phone, unlocked with a stealthsim, somehow managed to mess up the phone numerous times with the hardware unlock (not getting signal, etc), had to restore and rejailbreak about a dozen times. i got so frustrated that i almost went back to my blackberry until i somehow fixed it with the nth jailbreak. now, i continue to love my iphone although i'm scared of somehow screwing it up, so i'm careful, but i love it. i can't imagine going back to a phone without a real internet webpage like safari...

I enjoy my iPhone. I'm the type of person that becomes dissatisfied with a phone very quickly, but for once I think I have found the right phone. if iPhone two comes out and this one is still in working condition, I don't think I'll upgrade because this phone does a lot for me. It keeps me entertained, happy, informed and in contact in a very unique way. So I don't think I will ever be bored.

I love my iphone and dont whine myself....but actually understand the whining because this device COULD have been much more and does seem shortsighted....but of course its NOT shortsighted, its a longsighted plan to sell initially on the interface revolution, holding back on features and rolling them back out with subsequent versions....which is sleazy because they're basic features by now....and diabolically ingenious because we'll all buy it all over again.
When you really love something you want it to be the best it can be..its natural.
