Use iPhone as modem for Laptop

can the iPhone be used as a modem for a Laptop?

If there are no wifi hotspots at a location and I want to use my iPhone as a modem to play multiplayer games that are installed on my Laptop, would this be possible?

Anyone know how to do this?

firstly, you need a jailbroken iphone. for a guide to help you with that, check out the link in my signature.

then, to use your iphone to access EDGE via your laptop, search this forum for "tethering". Although, i'm not sure if EDGE will be fast enough to support multiplayer games.

You may also want to look into whether tethering is against AT&T's terms of service / outside of the unlimited data plan - make sure you don't get hit with overage charges.

i did this all the time when i had a treo and att and it worked fine. no over charges, this is just me though, make sure, im not sure what apple deal is
