This seems like old news but my search for pico projector came up with nothing so for those of you who don't know google "pico projector iPhone". I think a plugin external one will possibly be made for iPhone. And MAYBE an internal one in the iphone2.

I read about this early last year. I can't wait until it's integrated in cell phones.

i want one.
The article that I read showed a picture of a cell phone with an integrated pico projector. I don't believe that we will see that for a few years. But I'm excited about it none the less. Imagine the capabilities.

I'd want a separate unit somehow so that mere operation of the device would not shake the image. Could you imagine playing a video game with that thing?

Whoa, that's pretty awesome. I just love how technology is getting smaller and smaller, makes me think of Derek Zoolander's phone, anyone else remember it?

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I know my husband would like a projector that plugs into his iPhone. Is there any such thing out yet and if so does anyone know where I can get one?
Thanks

If you search on eBay or YouTube for "projector phone", you'll find that there is already one for sale with it built in.

Apparently Microvision (PicoP) is scheduled to release 2 laser pico projectors in January 2009. Word is one will be a true stand-alone with storage, etc. while the other is simply an accessory display.
The laser based projectors are always in focus (no focus wheel) and thus are 'in focus' even on curved surfaces. You might also keep in mind that laser displays may be rated as the same lumens as other (non-laser) displays, but the lumens are for each pixel as opposed to the entire image (making them appear much brighter).
Other perks are less power and heat means the batteries will last longer.

I'm not certain a triple laser DLP system consumes less power or is brighter than its LED counter part....

Maybe, I don't know. Microvision does not use DLP as in TI DLP

"There are also vast differences in heat and power. Both companies use laser light sources. But Microvision only turns a laser on to create a single pixel including that color. Then the laser nearly instantly turns back off, saving battery power. Meanwhile, Texas Instruments turns on a laser to illuminate the entire array of mirrors. And if a particular pixel doesn’t need that color, this light becomes heat, and is wasted."
We have already had a glimpse of their new projector with smaller engine to debut at MacWorld and CES 2009, called 'ShowWX' seen here; http://microvision.sdh.cx/uploaded_images/show-732304.gif
