original v 1.0 how to jailbreak?

I have the original 1.0 version of the iphone. I now want to put my own apps and ringtones on it. It has been activated since the day they came out but I have never let itunes update the version. Should I keep this version or upgrade to a different version to make jailbreaking easier? what is the easiest version to work with?

Upgrade to version 1.1.1; it is, hands down, the easiest jailbreakable version.

Once at 1.1.1, visit www.jailbreakme.com and scroll to the bottom. Press 'Install AppTapp. You're done! Simple, huh?

To upgrade, press Shift+Restore (if using Windows) or Option+Restore (if using Mac). Select the file you just downloaded, and let it upgrade. Enjoy!
