Hey guys, just wanted to share with you some pics of it, and highly recommend if you don't have a case to put the money into this one. Awesome case and VERY sleek design.

I have the Agent18, I like it somewhat, but it's not my favorite case, especially since it seems to scratch the bezel (on mine at least). A friend of mine has the Switcheasy Capsule, and though very similar, I like it a lot more, and plan to purchase it with the clip. I also have the Seidio Hybrid Combo, which I REALLY like. It's very slim, and looks very classy with the clip combo, but it does have the one flaw, which is the clickiness which has been discussed many times.

I have this case and love it, though I'm slightly paranoid that it might be scratching my phone. So I may look into another option, but I still recommend the case. Apple store reps say it only scratches if you take it on and off alot

My agent 18 has definitely scratched my phone, but I'm long past giving a damn about such a minor issue. I plan to have a case which covers the chrome anyway.

yeah that's pretty much how I feel. Plus if the case us in you don't see the "scratches" anyway

how hard is that plastic? I have the isee and its damn strong and very rigid. but its a bit bulky, so im looking for something as strong but slimmer.

Its like any other solid plastic object. you could snap it if you were holding one of the pieces in your hand without the phone it, but when the phone is inside the case its like a hard covering..

i know sounded stupid. i just wanted to make sure it wasnt like a soft rubbery plastic.

Most people dont think of doing this. Scratches usually come from some kind of debri which may be trapped inside. At which point, sliding the case on and off causes whatever is in it to do the scratching.

Good Advice!

Not a stupid question at all! You wouldnt have any idea if it were hard or soft without asking. I havent purchased any of the rubber cases yet; I will soon.

On another note, I dont think hard/soft really offers much protection when dropped from 6 feet onto concrete anyway! :tounge:

Oh sorry man, i wasn't saying your question was stupid, i was saying my response was because you asked if it was hard and i pretty much said "yes it is hard". There was absolutely nothing wrong in asking about the material of a case you don't own. I highly recommend the case btw!

you don't? seems to me that a harder case would be less likely to deform under pressure, and therefore protect better against dents, dings, and such. granted, any INTERNAL damage would be just the same...

well you could argue that a soft case, such as one of the many rubber cases, would do a better job of absorbing the impact and thus have better protection? just a thought. I didn't buy my case based on its saftey upon dropping it...i bought mine because i like having protection in my hand so i don't feel i need to hold it delicately.

perhaps, but i wouldn't think any case that is a usable thickness could provide much shock absorption.

I dont think I'd like the rubbery just cause of it being kinda sticky against fabric and it'd be a pain to get in and out of my pocket. Plus I think the hard plastic has the best protection

This is my first post!!!

I have to say, thanks to this forum and thread, I went out to lunch today and bought the Agent 18 black case. I love it and the fact that it fit's in my leather side holster. One question though. I notice on another thread that some of you mentioned that it came with an adapter for the dock. I didn't see any such thing in the packaging. I got mine from the Apple store. Any help would be great, thanks!!

It should just be a piece of plastic that came in the packaging. I'm not even sure exactly how it works, I never used it. I just take the bottom half of the case off and put it in the dock, or plug the phone in with the cord alone, with my other charger.

And in response to what somebody said earlier about it not being sleek....

Huh?! lol.. It's the slimmest case you can probably buy, most people don't even notice my phone is IN a case, they just think i painted the chrome black. I still can't feel it in my pocket when sitting.

yeah, the dock adapter is tucked away in cardboard near the bottom of the package. But it is not for the iPhone's dock. it is for Apple's universal dock.

here's a crappy pic of mine:

I saw an agent18 today on a phone for the first time. sooo much more sleek and low profile than my iSee case. feels like a brick with it on. i think im gonna pick one up, its hard to spend 30 bucks on a peice of plastic though...especially when i already spent 30 on that freaking iSee case. damn it

Oh, but they do! At least, my rubber case (bought at Radio Shack... 3-pack for $25) has absorbed many drops with nary a scratch to the phone. These are all hard drops (4+ feet) to pavement, too... a couple times right on the corner... several right on the screen. No problem.

I don't know if the hard cases protect as well. I've asked here before, but apparently no one that has one drops their phone nearly as often as I do! I tend to drive with it on my lap and forget it's there when I get out :tounge: I wouldn't go a minute without my rubber case considering the abuse I dish out!

acosmichippo

I don't doubt they protect against scratches well... by "shock absorption" I meant protection for the internal components getting jostled around.

psylichon
01-05-2008, 08:53 PM
Well, all I can say is mine still works!

Might not if it had a hard drive in it... but the Iphone is a pretty solid device. As I mention in another thread I started last night, mine even appears to have self-healed a dark spot on the screen that appeared after I stepped on it face down on the pavement. Now, THAT's pretty impressive to me...

Can anyone with the clear agent18 case tell me if the inside of the case is smooth or has 2 slight lines going down it. The reason i ask is that my previous case had them and scratched me phone. I want to buy the case again, and from what i've read the clear case using different plastic so maybe its smooth inside now.

acosmichippo
01-07-2008, 01:16 AM
it still has them. if you're worried about it, I'd recommend using some fine-grit sandpaper to smooth them over.

I paid $14 for two from Apple, the 1st one I scratched trying to put on, the 2nd one I put on backwards, then, when i realized it, reversed it, but, now there is some fuzz that is kinda trapped between the screen and protector, so...I'm debating about going with only the case. So, far, the screen protector is still on.

i just bought the white agent18 case from the apple store. i love it. i had the a black rubber incase and it was ok. i like the slick cover of the 18. incase always got caught on my pants pocket getting it out and putting it in my pocket. great case other than that.

if you do decide to try to fix it, try removing the dust and crap by laying strips of tape over the top, and peeling them away. It's much easier than trying to use liquids of any kind.

It scratched mine at the very bottom, but I really don't care. You cant see it when the case is on. I dropped my iPhone today for the very first time outside of my friends apartment, she laughed at me (I wanted to tell her what the 5 fingers said to the face) I picked it up and like nothing. Great case and worth the $29.99. The case with the anti-glare screen protectors is the best set up.

But yeah, my agent 18 case has not left a mark on my iPhone.
