FM transmitter or other device to play iPhone in car?

Does anyone know of a device that works with the iPhone to play through the car speakers? I purchased a DLO FM Transmitter because someone on another forum said he had luck with it working, but mine wouldn't and I've seen on other threads that I wasn't alone :frown:

I have a 2003 Toyota so I don't have the new technology to simply plug the iPhone into the car; I need something that plays through the radio in some way. Has anyone had any luck in finding something that works? I just got home from a 1000 mile trip over the holidays and not being able to listen to my iPod while I drove was not fun and was the reason I had the DLO so I was bummed to say the least when it didn't work.

Anyone have any suggestions or find luck in something? If you've had luck I would LOVE to know what worked for you - Thanks to everyone in advance!

I've used the P.I.E. devices in three cars and love them. They give you a standard AUX input for your factory Car stereo. Make sure that you research your make and model first. Your factory radio needs to have internal support for a CD changer or XM Radio in most cases. The P.I.E. device isn't an FM transmitter, it uses the standard audio interface that the CD Changer or XM Radio would have used. The sound quality is really good.

I'm still using Monster iCarPlay Wireless FM Transmitter/Charger for iPod and its working just fine but the downside is that you have to turn on the Airplane Mode on your IPhone to get a clear music out to your car speakers and with that you can't receive any calls. :frown:

The good thing I noticed out of this device though is that once you disconnect your IPhone, your phone automatically turns off Airplane mode. :smile:

The best option is to go with what Wrhutch said by using AUX input as to FM Transmitters. This option enables you receive calls while playing music with better sound quality. :2cool:

if youre semi handy with installations, you can go to most electronics stores and buy an FM modulator and wire it into your car. Doesnt really take that much work. They are a SMALL step up from an FM transmitter in that they arent that succeptible to frequency overlaps. The good part is if you have a headset converter (plug that converts standard headset into a microphoned unit) you can use teh car speakers to hear calls and the microphone to talk i.e. your stereo becomes a speakerphone. Not ideal, but works in a pinch so long as youre not blasting the sound.

I have a 2004 toyota truck. It still has a cassette player as well as CD. I bought a $10 Cassette adapter at walmart and plug my ipod or iphone in and it sounds great.

That's if you happen to still have a Cassette player.
