Hello Forum

I was given an Ipod Shuffle months ago as a gift.
I let it sit around for several weeks and I guess
now that might have been a bad thing to do because
I think this might have killed some battery.

Here is how it performs. When I plug the Ipod Shuffle
into a USB port, my computer recognizes it ok. In fact,
I am able to open up the Icon of the device under my
Windows XP "My Computer" and see the contents of the IPOD.

After I safely remove the device from my computer and I move
the button on the back so that the green bar is displayed and
I push the play/pause button, the light display flashes green and
yellow a few times and then nothing.

What is wrong and how can I fix it?

Have you tried plugging it in and then opening iTunes and attempting a restore on it? I don't really have any experience with Shuffle problems but you also want to be sure to charge the battery completely. Try leaving it on the charger overnight and see what happens.

Download iTunes from Apple http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

then sync your shuffle, everything will be grande.

^^Haha I didn't even think of the possibility that he didn't have iTunes. Nice catch.

Yes, that was the problem.

Now I am using my IPod Shuffle :)

The only question I have now is this. I see that the data space is mostly occupied with "Other" files that are not audio files eventhough I have only put audio files on the system.

Are these system files -- the ITunes system?

What are the file sizes stated. Could be a partition prob if hacked.
