Long story short I used this program called iphone hack toolkit from this site http://www.pqdvd.com/iphonetheme.html
and tried to add some themes with their program. Long story short, my iphone's desktop started running slower than normal. Not only this, but the original icons got all screwed up.
I next tried to replace the displayorder.plist file to with the original one from modmyifone's forums but that didn't help either. After having enough of it, I decided to reinstall 1.1.2...this is where it got interesting
While revirginizing the phone, my program froze during the erasing the baseband portion of it... saying "Erasing the baseband...this takes one minute"
After 10 minutes I knew something was wrong in fact I saw the circle iphone icon spinning which normally doesn't happen then it stopped.
I knew I was in trouble. After trying to reboot the phone it realized I couldn't get it back because not only would it not boot up but it kept rebooting on its on in an endless loop. After finally getting it to go into restore mode I was ready to at least try to downgrade to 1.1.1 and do the baseband revirginize there....
When that didn't work, I went down to 1.0.2 using this guide
http://www.hacktheiphone.com/112/iphone_downgrade_repair_baseband_windows.html
and finally got things going later on. Well during the climb back up to 1.1.2 I chose to upgrade of course (oktoprep/1.1.2 jailbreak instructions) and well got my iphone working but now I can't sync back my old txt messages. Thank God my contacts didn't get lost but I wish I could get my txt messages back especially since its the holidays and I got some very nice messages yesterday...
Has anyone been able to resync back their texts after upgrading or successfully being able to restore your texts on another iphone? I think itunes thinks my iphone is a different phone and is choosing to not sync those back. ANY help is appreciated. Thanks
