Every time I plug in my iPhone, the computer detects it immediately. But after I plug it back out and back in, the computer gives me a message saying "USB malfunction" and it doesn't detect the phone. In fact, the iPHone doesn't even charge...
In order for me to get it to work, I have to restart the computer EVERY time I want to use my phone with iTunes...
Is there a solution to this?

My work one does this also. I had to disable the USB port and renable. Once I reinstalled XP everything worked fine.

If you have multiple USB ports you can try moving the cable to another port when you get that message. It works on my laptop and saves you from having to reboot over and over again

Do you safely remove the iPhone (assuming you are using Windows).
Also if your computer is older your USB needs to be replaced by a USB 2.0 and an old USB will not charge a phone.

The iPhone is not recognized as a drive in Windows or as a peripheral so there is no need (or way to do it) to "safely remove" it. You just unplug it and go.

If your in iTunes definitely. If your just connected for SSH purposes or charging you can just unplug it.

no, if you have pictures in the photo roll windows recognizes it as a digital camera. you CAN "safely remove", but i never have and haven't run into any problems.
