I won't get into a debate on the Pats going 16-0 bc I think their methods (cheating) are quite questionable. But anyway, I applaud Tom and Randy for their records. It should be an interesting playoff season when we get our starters back, however. I would, however, now that you have gotten some wallpapers, would like some of the Colts.

When did they "cheat"? I am talking about this year.

Everything else is merely speculation...

patrickj

They were caught violating NFL rules this year. That's why they were fined the largest amount in NFL history and stripped of a Number 1 draft choice next year.
The whole incident reflects badly on them, especially the arrogant tosser way in which Bellichick refused to offer any sort of apology for it, or even speak about it.
But ... I reckon the punishment fit the crime. The actual level of 'cheating' is pretty minor - given steroids etc. scandals around football and other sports. So they've paid their fines and will lose their pick and that's it.
I don't believe that incident puts any sort of dent in the 16-0 mark. I don't think any coach in the NFL would claim the Patriots recorded any extra wins because of the taping stuff - think all coaches would say they're 16-0 because they've gone out every week and been the best team on the field.
I can't stand Bellichick and I'm definitely not a Patriots fan, but their won-loss record doesn't deserve to be called 'lucky' or to be diminished by any of the 'cheating stuff ...

I won't get into a debate on the Pats going 16-0

Whatever "speculation" there may be concerning spying, I don't really want to get into it. I'm just stating my personal opinion that I believe that the Patriots have one of the worst sportsmanship ideals in the NFL. I'm not saying this being from Indiana and a huge Colts fan. I'm merely observing how they handle things. 1) The brush off that Belichick gave to Tony Dungy during our game was pure disrespectful. I just don't see how he could have given the cold shoulder to one of the nicest and most respected coaches in the NFL. 2) How the Pats run up the score in a game that they clearly have in the bag. I'm not complaining and I'm sure you're going to say that the other team should have played better. I'm just saying that one of these days, their luck is gonna run out by them leaving their starters in and Tom, Randy, whoever are gonna get injured. 3) Does Belichick not have any control over his team? During the Giants game, Vince Wilfork obviously went for the eye of Brandon Jacobs. What was that all about. He has since been suspended, but the fact of the matter is. IMHO I don't see they should be praised for SOME of their achievements considering how they are representing themselves and the NFL.

On that note, I'm done with the debate. Again, I'm not gonna be sore about losing to them bc we are going to get a lot of our starters back here soon and it's going to be a different ball game. I applaud the records that they were able to achieve and yes, they are a good team, but not a great team or never will be MY team.

And if there is anyone on this thread who could make me a Colts wallpaper, that would be great. If not, I'll try to make my own thread and try there. Happy New Years everyone and let's just watch some good football!!

I hated that moment too. Wanted to spit on the TV. It's great that Dungy won a Super Bowl last year, just to remind us that you don't have to be a complete ***hole like Bellichick to win ...

I know what you mean! When I say Tony with that trophy, it was really cool and emotional to see. I just love it when the good guy wins and Tony and everyone certainly deserved it. I just love the fact that he doesn't scream, insult, or even scowl at his players. He has a great coaching style and it really reflects the team. I just wish I could sit in on one of his speeches in the locker room. He's just a cool guy and a family man. Nothing bad to say about Dungy.

What were the Colts doing when Manning was going after the record???
New England Patriots 27 Indianapolis Colts 24
Indianapolis Colts 31 Tennessee Titans 17
Indianapolis Colts 45 Green Bay Packers 31
Indianapolis Colts 24 Jacksonville Jaguars 17
Indianapolis Colts 35 Oakland Raiders 14
Jacksonville Jaguars 27 Indianapolis Colts 24
Kansas City Chiefs 45 Indianapolis Colts 35
Indianapolis Colts 31 Minnesota Vikings 28
Indianapolis Colts 49 Houston Texans 14
Indianapolis Colts 41 Chicago Bears 10
Indianapolis Colts 41 Detroit Lions 9
Indianapolis Colts 51 Tennessee Titans 24
Indianapolis Colts 23 Houston Texans 14
Indianapolis Colts 20 Baltimore Ravens 10
Indianapolis Colts 34 San Diego Chargers 31
Denver Broncos 33 Indianapolis Colts 14

You are right...There is no other team in the NFL that does anything wrong including the Colts.

As far as leaving the starters in: They were going for records and there isn't another coach in this league who wouldn't do the same thing. (Including Dungy)

One more question: Did Dungy cheat by pulling his starters? Fisher is on the NFL committee for fair play...Do you think Dungy said "you're welcome" to him?

I think this year's playoffs are gonna get ugly and it should be entertaining to watch. I know who I'm rooting for. I'm not gonna say we're gonna win the big game. I do know if we have our starters back in the game and, God forbid they don't have to wait 3 quarters to shake the cobwebs off, we are gonna do pretty good. I don't know where I said that one.....
I just don't like the Pats. I've moved all over and used to be a huge Dallas fan back when they had Troy, Deon, Emmitt, etc. I then moved here and since I didn't really have a team at the time, I started to watch the Colts. Granted we weren't that good when I first started watching, haha. I still continued to watch them. We then got the act together and started to show what we can do. I don't know what you mean by the "Colts are angels." I really honestly don't know of an incident where they have done something really wrong or disrespectful. (not playing Devil's Advocate, I really don't know) Hell, they don't even really celebrate after a touchdown! A few high fives here and there and that's it. (And the funny moment where Marvin Spiked the ball and it bounced back and hit another guy. haha.) Not saying the Pats are showboats, don't get it twisted. We are the team that doesn't flaunt and make much news, but we do our thing and we damn good at it. That's all I'm trying to say. I do recognize that the Pats are a good team. I'm not gonna hide it. They just aren't my cup o' tea. I'm a Colts guy. It just seems that the Pats make more headlines with allegations and incidents than we do. We're no angels. We're a football team with morals and respect.

You didn't...It's the only way I can take your biased opinions. You come out with all the allegations against the Pats. The only legitimate argument you can make is the tape. Everything else happens in the NFL every Sunday on every team.

I come out with the allegations??? I think there are a lot of people who would agree with me. I don't know why you're getting offensive over someone's opinion. I don't like Bill, Tony was gonna give him a respectable handshake after they DID (not almost) handed us our asses. He stilled show class. I'm allowed my personal opinion.

Piped in crowd noise?? haha. I love how every Pat's fan states that. I have season tickets and I know that it does actually get that loud in the dome. Every single person around me makes that much noise. I've never heard of any temperature adjustments. again season ticket holder and I've never felt more comfortable and consistent. I don't know how temperature would affect anything. If there was a change, it can't be that much to affect anything because I"m there, or my brother and dad are there, and we don't feel anything.

Again, I'm through with stating my opinions on anything. I'm just a football fan who loves my teams and dislikes yours. There's nothing else to it. I have my reasons, and I've made efforts to say that I applaud the Pats on what they've done. You say that I make allegations, yet that is what you've done as well. I know we're not gonna see eye to eye on this. We're just not. I'll leave it at that and just go my way. Good luck this season, tho.

The NFL did an investigation of the "pumped in crowd noise" and found that the noise that sounded like a skipping cd, came from the NFL broadcast truck, and was not heard in the RCA dome. I have never heard of temperature adjustments in the dome. The people sitting in the stands seem comfortable, the obese linemen on NFL teams seem to sweat a bit but they are pushing 110%. It seems as if the Colts and the Pats are an NFL rivalry. One that I am a part of being a colts fan. That said...........

16-0 is impressive. Less impressive when it is accomplished by a team that got caught cheating, but still impressive. Your Patriots and my Colts are becoming the biggest rivalry of all time, and I'm loving it. Good luck to your team in the playoffs. I hope you all can get past Jacksonville and we can get past the Chargers so maybe we can go head to head in another AFC Superbowl determining game.

Here is nice quote that was in the Washington Post today:

The notion that a piece of videotape explains the excellence of the Patriots (http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/teams/page/NE) is unadulterated trough-water hogwash, and now everyone knows it. The early season controversy when the Pats were caught and fined for videotaping the signals of the New York Jets (http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/teams/page/NYJ) now surely should be filed under the category of Big Events in Small Minds. It takes more than videotape to play the game as well as the Patriots are playing it.

I guess Montana was OK too...You are witnessing the second coming. Montana 2.0., the second rev is always better.

I'm no Pats fan at all; Dallas fan since I'm a kid. But I'd say if anything you could make a strong case for Brady being better than Montana - think he is just as clutch, just as poised and mistake-free in crucial moments in big games, has probably a stronger arm, and has not usually (this year is different of course) had as many weapons around him as Montana did ...

Could be a Dallas/Pats Super Bowl.

Could be a Dallas/Pats Super Bowl.

Sure could, if we can get TO and Romo fully healthy in next couple weeks. Dallas gave the Pats half a good game during the season ...

Just don't have Jessica at the game and Romo will be fine.

LOL. Guess that's another area where Brady has more than a little edge - he doesn't completely and totally lose his cool and his ability to play the game if his girl shows up

Saw it on TV...

Now, explain where the cheating was this season???

This video shows cheating on the very first game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tn9jXpxMivY

This is the cheating, this season, that led to the fines to the coach, and the team.

The same coach wins coach of the year. I'm sure other cheaters, like Shawne Merriman, are in awe of how he pulled that off. The man cost his team a first round pick, had to shell out a half a million, embarrassed the NFL and his team, and still wins coach of the year! Bill Belichick you love him, I hate him.:tounge:

The tape was pulled in the first quarter and was not used for the game, which was Week 1.
Did you watch your own video? What else you got???

The Apple

The video never said that the tape was pulled in the first quarter. Are you insinuating that this was their first time taping? Or are you just defending this season?

Would like the newspaper report form here in New England?

To answer your question...Both. They were caught on Week 1 before the first quarter and the taping was going to be used for future games and not that one. As far as other seasons go, there is no other proof but after this season it just goes to show you how good the Pats really are.

For all we know they could have cheated every year they ever won a superbowl! Wheres the proof the colts ever pumped in crowd noise?

There is none but the Pats were not the first to complain about it.

lmao...everyone is going to try and use the taping as a reason blah blah b;ah do u honestly think we were the ONLY! team that tapes..if so you are sadly mistaken..not sure if ANY of you have ever played the game of football (and no not madden 08) but 90% of teams tape everything the jets coach was being a little ***** about his team be DESTROYED...so ok lets say this....we were taping a game...got caught..(not like we are the only ones)...what do you say about every other game we didnt "tape" and and put all the teams down.....hmmmmmmmmm kind of funny if you ask me,,,cry about it over the spring as the pats bring home another ring

Do you honestly think that if this was a serious issue, they would let him leave town? You have no clue how this organization works. Furthermore, "IF" they lose, you would never hear them say that was the reason. Get out your popcorn and enjoy history in the making one way or the other.

I see it now, Brady laying on the couch with his foot up on a little soft pillow for two weeks, eating popcorn and fattening food, just rubbing the butter on his stomach, vacumn cleaner next to him to pick up all the crumbs....:gasp:

To be quite honest, I actually made up the story about the ESPN thing....laughing:smile:

Then WHEN I really read the story this morning...I had a huge laugh, then even bigger when I came online this morning and read what you said to me, a huge huge laugh when I was able to post an answer to you...PRICELESS..:tounge:

its called head games people...funny how a week before the big game New England's star quarter back gets injured RIIIIGHT and i'm the giants secret weapon this year....they're trying to get the giants to think that so that they dont train as hard so they have it in their heads that tom brady is not at full strength so they think it will be an easier win...the win is not going to be easy by any means but the giants will pull it off tom brady or not on the other side...
