I tried this but the person I sent it to has still not received the MMS message. It acted like it sent but it never got received. That's why I asked if anyone had one that they knew had actually been received (by someone not on the AT&T network).

Yea it is NOT working for me.... It will say sent but noone gets a message....I tried several people..
Also, the program freezes up while trying to send maybe 3 out of 5 tries....
Either I cannot get it to work or there are still quite a few bugs here...

So this is the question.
What OS is everyone using and let us know if it works on your phone or not. This will help us keep a log on what is going on with this software. And put where you live and what adresses you used. I can send the messages but the end user does not recieve them. I am on 1.1.2 and live in southern Ca. I tryed mmsc.Cingular.com and 066.209.11.032

Question for you guys. I notice once you pick the picture you want to send it inserts the actual file path. If I know the path of a file that isnt a picture, can I type it in there to send? I want to send a ringtone like I used to do with my RAZR. Im gonna test this tonight once I get home since I dont know the path for my ringtones.

It depends upon your provider but for AT&T you just put "066.209.011.032" without the quote marks.

For anyone who cares, I dont think this works. I tried it with the right path which is /var/root/Library/Ringtones/songname.mp3 and it kept telling me to input a valid file name.

The only caveat appears that you can't be a first time AT&T customer with the iPhone. From all the reports I've seen of people who have been successful and who haven't, you have to have MMS enabled on your account at some point in time. If you had a phone with MMS on AT&T before the iPhone you are fine because it was set up and probably not removed. However since the iPhone doesn't have MMS it was never set up so the service isn't accepting it from your iPhone. And you can't exactly call up AT&T and say I want MMS because you have an iPhone and it's not supported. It's a bit of a catch-22. Kind of sucks.

Mine's been working fine and my AT&T service is brand new with the iPhone. I switched over from Verizon to get the iPhone. I've only sent three but all have gone through. The added bonus is that the pictures are much bigger on the recipients phone than the e-mail pictures I've been sending them.

There is a post here, http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/general-discussion/send-photos-via-sms-15722-4.html that showed how to send pictures via email and have them received as an MMS on the other phone. I tried it to Verizon and AT&T and it works. Still doesn't let us receive MMS, but I'm happy now that I can at least send them and it works.
For the record, I never got this MMS program to work with AT&T on my iPhone.

What about the cost of this? Since AT&T doesn't offer MMS packages for iPhones - are they going to charge extra for each MMS message?
Another question - does this use EDGE to send or does it go through the Cellular line?
And is there any way to delete the list of sent MMSs? Or does the list keep growing...
Great App - seems to work right for me. Just wondering about these things.
Chris716

Thanks for the info.
Im wondering if it will be possible to receive them. There are a couple reasons.
1. AT&T knows you have an iPhone and that it doesn't support MMS - so they intercept the message and send you a text with the URL, username and password. So this might be an issue.
2. Im not sure how other phones get notified of an MMS - it might come through the Cellular line - or maybe EDGE? Either way - I wonder if the iPhone can support the signaling it would need to know an MMS is waiting and to go get it.
Im very interested to see if someone can get this working.

Stupid question here guys. Isnt this app the same as emailing someone a picture to their MMS address. For example... just start an email to whatever number @mms.att.com and you should be able to send the pic to their phone. Am I right? I guess that might be a way around this.

You are right and this works well as long as you:
a. Know that carrier the recipient has
b. Know what the special address is for that carrier
Its just not as convenient as an app like this that just sends it to any cell number. Then the network does all the work.

I'm going through this right now. If you're on AT&T, all the tinkering in the world won't make your MMS work. I got it working with a SIM swap, but they turned it back off pretty quickly.
If you can't get AT&T to turn it on for you, you're SOL.
