I hear you can legitimately put custom ringtones on your phone through iTunes for free? They have to be in iTunes as .m4r or something like that? Can someone completely explain this for me?
Also, can you recommend me a program for editing the song and such so I can get the part of the song I want for the ringtone?
Try the search button next time. http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/iphone/custom-ringtones-without-jailbreaking-works-with-the-new-1-1-2-firmware-update-16925.html

I have audacity, but it seems to only want to import my mp3s and it doesn't load .wav/.wma or any of the other file formats properly. :\ I'm not sure what the problem is. :X

I've used Audacity for years, and I've edited/converted mp3, wav, aac, etc.
Maybe you don't understand the features fully....

Maybe I don't, I hit open file, find my file, click on it. It comes up with a clip that's like 1 second long and just makes this crazy weird noise. . .
