I like the one that had the white trim in the front. How much does it end up costing? I want to do this but don't have the $$.

Kelley, I think I'd like it with the front colors reversed; make the button purple and the border green. Have you tried it that way? Thanks for the tip on buying direct, i may just do that. Can they sell them without activation? Nevermind, I'll check their site.

I have been playing around with it, I don't know how I will ever decide! They aren't on the website yet, but when I mentioned that I forgot about the in store activation thing. It makes me wonder if they will ever see the 3g ones direct, now that you mention it!

I may get flamed for this, but it's a far more useful phone. the iPhone is prettier and more fun no doubt. I miss alot of things about having it. The addition of 3g and GPS cured 2 of my problems. I'll be getting another one for sure on July 11. I just won't get rid of my N95 this time. I'm going to keep both, and use the N95 when I need what it offers. If Apple continues to dictate what we can and can't have though, such as GPS apps from TomTom or Garmin through the App Store then I'll probably sell it off again in a few months and be done with it :frown: I like being able to do what I want with my investment.

"Judging" by the picture I think the iPhone's safari could beat its browser...I think its called "opera"?
-But maybe that because the iPhone has a larger screen, another +
-Also the iPhone is wicked thinner, like 2-3 iPhones in width to the n95 :)

looks, of course the iPhone is better. never denied that. but sometimes it leaves a power user feeling empty. also, that's the original N95, not the N95-4, which is the 8gb North American version. Bigger screen, all black. And it is thicker to house the camera and larger speakers which are excellent and have quite a bit of thump to them. Thin is cool but I don't want to sacrifice function for the sake of being real thin. The N95 is still pretty thin , just not as thin as the iPhone, and it's much lighter. And if I have to carry an iPhone and a digicam with me, then which is thinner? :tounge: Just so we are comparing the right phone :tounge::

-I've never seen the/ a black n95, cause whenever they were mentioned they were always that silverish gray, but the black looks very clean and that multi-media slide out feature seems cool also :) Nevermind Ive changed my perception on the n95, but I'm still loyal to the iPhone :)
But this is definitely the 2nd choice of a phone I would pick after the iPhone, I think my view would change even more if I had actually ever gotten to use/ play with one :(

I agree, that silverish original one is very ugly and cheap lookin. I had the -3 which is the North American version of it for about 2 months and I couldn't stand the screen.
I got it for $510 through Dell Small Business. It's $799 direct from Nokia. If ya ever want one let me know, I got connections there ;)
And I agree the iPhone is still my favorite. I love the heck out of that thing. I've just been spoiled by that dang camera and I love to take pics-alot of them.
Another thing on the N95 browser, Opera is a 3rd party browser, I don't use it. I use the built in S60 browser which is based on WebKit-same as Safari in the iPhone. Safari still looks better, but functionally the N95 browser kills it. Playing youtube videos in the browser, espn video highlights in the browser.
But it says something for the iPhone that with all of that said, I'm still anxiously awaiting July 11 like a kid at Christmas. I've been missing having it so much that I have been lookin for cheapies on craigslist of the v1.

well the dark ones are definitely not the quality of my Nikon S600, but when I've taken dark ones with the iPhone like that you can't even see things. The flash of the N95 is only a LED, whereas Nokia's highest rated camera phone, the N82 has a Xenon flash which is much better for night pics. Still not bad, not really print quality, but good for myspace, flickr, or whatever. The one out of my backyard, I actually printed out and it looked close to as good as the one from my Nikon. With the right lighting they are pretty high quality prints.
oh and the first two, I wasn't dancing, I was drunk lol. and I probably had fingerprints and condensation on the lens from sitting it on the bar. oops

It's been a while since you sent your last one to its untimely demise. Have you been coping with a PC since then?

Hell no! I have a Mac Mini as a desktop, but it has 500 MB of RAM, it's freaking old. Anyway, new one's unboxed and operational; here (http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/macbook/new-macbook-photos-29783.html#post276751) are the photos. They're a bit blurry and give you no idea of how beautiful it is, but oh well.

i've seen quite a few people do it. I don't think it matters much about post counts, etc. and it sure isn't about any kind of clique. I hate cliques of any sort. I like seeing a little somethin personal from everyone who is willing to share. No personal stuff they wouldn't want to share of course, and if someone wishes to remain totally private thats cool too. I just like seeing people's interests, backgrounds, etc. Kinda to put a person with just a name you see on the screen so to speak. I don't care if the person has 10 or 1,000 posts, I'm interested in learning about anybody who is willing to share..

My husband is a paramedic/firefighter and he is constantly going on more and more shootings, stabbings, etc. He says it's so sad to see young kids killing each other, it's so stupid. Sometimes innocent people get hit, other times they are just robbing people for a couple of bucks and without caring shot them too. He also goes on the aftermath of carjackings etc. I don't know how he does it, but he also has a lot of saves and a lot of good stories that come out of the bad. But it's truly a harsh world, everywhere.

Rick, I saw your posts on irovr, but I missed what happened to you. Are you doing OK?
Yes Lisa, things are fine, thanks. Here is the the story. For those that would rather not read all the details, just know that I had abdominal surgery and all is very well. You can stop reading here. I'm not going to get graphic, but I am describing exactly what happened and how it is being fixed.
My intestinal problem started last year on December 14th with stomach cramps that worsened until I went to the hospital on the 16th. I was diagnosed with a perforated colon and was severely septic, requiring immediate emergency surgery. They were able to clean things up and removed about 8" of my large intestine (a small portion actually). However, because of the severe infection they were unable to re-connect the ends and had to perform a temporary colostomy, where the colon is attached through the left side of the abdomen. UGH, that was not appealing. However, it was only temporary for about 6 months while everything calmed down and the inflammation went away. I was released from the hospital on Christmas day.
The last 6 months haven't been as crappy (no pun intended) as I imagined they would be and after a few weeks of recovery I was able to do most normal activities. I've been anticipating this most recent surgery for some time and finally went in on the 19th for the reversal. The idea was to remove the colon from the abdomen and re-attach it to the other end, completing the plumbing. The failure rate on this surgery is about 1 in 50 or 2%, mainly due to leakage at the re-attachment point. Failure results in yet another immediate surgery and colostomy and another 6-8 month healing before it can be attempted again.
I awoke from surgery and found that things didn't go real well. My surgeon had difficulty making a good reconnection and finally got what he hoped was a leak-free joint after 4 attempts. Because he wasn't confident that it would hold, he also performed a temporary ileostomy where a small loop of the small intestine is brought through the abdomen on the right side. The idea is that all intestinal processing will then be diverted out the ileostomy, resulting in no load on the newly reconnected large intestine. The ileostomy can be easily reversed in a relatively minor procedure in about 30-45 days after the colon has healed a bit. My repair joint did not leak and it appears that it will be holding fine.
So, here I am, home again but not quite back to normal yet. I have a gaping 3" hole in my abdomen on the left side where the colostomy was removed and it is connected to a wound vac that keeps negative pressure on it to promote healing. The incision for this surgery is in the exact place as the previous one, 15" directly down the center of my abdomen. On the right side I have the temporary ileostomy. I lost about 40 lbs. after the first surgery and have dropped an additional 20 so far. After a few weeks recovery I hope to schedule takedown of the ileostomy and begin using my regular plumbing.
Some of the above has been mentioned on iRovr with photos, and I'd like to thank iGregZ, iconnie, aggie, Gaia (mom), koko, patrick, Ramesh, Buffy, geordisjd, Psylichon and anyone I missed for posting there during my recovery. It was absolutely wonderful to pick up the phone and see the messages of encouragement. Thanks so much to all of you for being there.

Rick, I'm so glad that things seem to be healing well. What was the scare at the hospital yesterday, the false alarm? Also, did they speculate on what caused your colon to perforate in the first place?Th original perforation was the the result of diverticulitis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diverticulitis). The scare right at release yesterday happened during the routine removal of a small drain tube. The nurse released the stitch holding it in place and gave a tug but it didn't move. She tried a second time and it came out a few inches but the pain just about put me through the roof so she stopped. It apparently was adhered to something and broke free. After a minute or so we resumed and pulled the remaining 18" out without an problem. Just as she was disposing of the tube she noticed the the end had a broken edge, and it looked like the tip may have actually broken off inside. After several frantic calls to summon the surgeon and a radiologist we did some scans and determined that there was nothing foreign left inside me and the the end of the tube probably was cut that way prior to insertion. The doctor says that it was sterile, and on the outside chance that there is something in there, it will eventually make itself known and can be removed laparoscopically.

Rick, Thanks for sharing. I am glad that you will be alright. Good thing you went to the hospital when you did. That kind of stuff scares me. When you get sick and then it ends up being serious, I mean.
I had an emergency abdominal surgery when I was 25. I will share my surgery tale, if anyone wants to read it.

OK. Here is the surgery story. Stop reading if you do not want to hear about guts.
This happened when I was about 24. I woke up not feeling well at about 2-3am. I peed, and then pain radiated throughout my right side. I started throwing up, and I could not stop for several hours. I was also in a lot of pain on my right side. Darren was worried, and he made me go to the ER.
I get to the ER and it was right before they change shifts. They did their normal check in stuff, and then I had to wait for shift change. They thought I may have a kidney stone, so they want to do a sonogram. The whole time I am puking/dry heaving, which is more pleasant than hanging around in pain. They will not give me any pain meds until they diagnose. There was also a lot of waiting. Eventually, they find a cystic tumor on my right ovary. It has wrapped itself around the tube and cut off the blood supply, making it gross and gangrenous.
In between here Darren is very upset and crying and worried about me.
At about noon, the doctor tells me that I need to have surgery to remove it now. I tell him "OK, do it. I am in pain. I do not care" He tells me he may have to do a hysterectomy if it is bad or cancerous. (This is before I had kids). The pain is so bad that I tell him I do not care if he has to remove my right arm to make the pain go away, and to just do it.
So, they finally give me a shot in the rear for pain, but it really did not help at that point. Then they prepped me for surgery. Since they were not sure how it would go, I got a big cut from the belly button down. They removed the right ovary and fallopian tube only and sewed me back up. Everything ended up fine and I still had 2 beautiful babies a few years later.

Wow, that would be scarry, especially knowing that it could render you childless. I'm so happy for your outcome! I guess Darren just aimed for the left side, huh. ;)
I am very glad you are ok!! Ovarian cysts run in my family, so I understand. About 4 years ago, my little sister woke up feeling like someone was continually punching her in the stomach. Someone finally convinces her to go to the ER. They do a sonogram as well, and the one performing it looks to the other nurse and asks why she cannot "see" anything. The picture was blank.
It turns out that my little sister had a blood cyst on her ovary that burst, and her entire abdomin was filled with blood that was going toxic. They drained over a pint out of her. The good news was that they didn't remove anything except the cyst.
very scary thing in a woman's life. I am very happy for you that it didn't prevent you from having kids. It just make them that much more special.

Ah grasshopper, we will teach you! ;) Follow Hayes' pic instructions and then for the review, talk about each feature. Pull up the page at Logitech and read what they say about it, and either confirm or deny how it is for you. You ould also pull up a review of it on CNet and just copy the part you agree with and re-write the parts you disagree with.
I'm waiting, 'cause I still think it sucked.

I was trying to think of a way you could fix it, but it would require you to be able to remote into your PC back at home. If you could, then you just need to copy a few files and setup whatever PC you have available.
Good Luck. I think I would probably lose my mind if that happened. As it stands, I think I am going to invest in a large Jump drive and backup all my phone sync data to it and keep it with me just in case this ever happens to me.

It just depends which site most of your friends are on. I really don't like myspace, but many more of my friends have myspace than facebook, so thats what I use primarily.
Honestly, I don't like facebook, but I am in the minority there.
I like MySpace's interface better. I don't like the way Facebook is setup - especially for friend requests and comments. It irritates me.

PDS when I saw your new avatar I was very confused as I hadn't kept up with your reveal thread after you posted it initially. I have to say also that it takes a lot of guts to admit you made a mistake and tell the truth. Not to bring up old stuff but there was a member here not to be named that was 15 and swore to all of us he was 19 even though we all knew he was lying. If he hadn't pretended he was something he wasn't none of us would have cared that he was fifteen. Honesty is a good quality. Plus, if you tell the truth you don't have to remember all the details to keep the lie going. I bet you feel better now dontcha?

People make mistakes. If "friends" can't forgive, can they really be a "friend"?
Sorry, not to re-hash anything, but it does take some major testicular fortitude to fess up to mistake and take it like a man (or woman). I like you more now than I did before. That's the truth.
