I just purchased another iphone offline from the apple store and i'm wondering what firmware i'm probably going to get. If it is 1.1.2 can i downgrade it to 1.1.1 and unlock it? Will i be able to unlock it either way? Sorry, i haven't looked at the forums since the latest firmware was 1.01 lol

You'll probably get 1.1.2 now. - if it is you can't unlock it, but you can still jailbreak and activate it.

Correct! :laugh2:
No unlock is available for any phone that comes BNIB with v1.1.2 due to the new boot loader/baseband
I just got a replacement phone on Friday (yeah, how Dumb was I to make an appointment with Apple on the biggest shopping day of the year) and it came with 1.1.1.
I think it simply goes by supply. If anyone else can confirm their firmware that has recently bought or exchanged an iPhone, I am interested to know what you got.

You can get 1.1.2 now through I tunes. I haven't upgraded due to batter concerns. Can anyone shed some light on the battery life?

i just got an iphone on nov 21 at an AT&T store, it was 1.1.1. the sales rep was nice enough to look at the serial # and find me a week 44 iphone. they only had 8 in stock and all was week 44 so i was lucky.

It's pretty easy - this is how we're doing them: (This is the same for previously activated 1.1.2 OOB and unactivated 1.1.2 OOB phones - although a few things happen differently along the way)
RESTORE the phone to 1.1.1
Do the jailbreakme.com jailbreak
Install Oktoprep
UPGRADE to 1.1.2
Jailbreak again with the touchfree 1.1.2 jailbreak

It is not a jailbreak that you should not attempt. It is an "unlock" process that as of now you should not try on the 1.1.2 phones.

i have restored the phone to 1.1.1 - but i got a 1015 error. Just as the other guide said would happen.... the phone is in the safe mode (connect to itunes).

Load iBrickr and kick the phone out so it will reboot, and then you visit jailbreakme.com via Wifi and load Oktoprep and then upgrade to 1.1.2
