so the button on top of the phone is the sleep wake button right? If so My question is: is it bad to press that button all the time? Like when Im
done with using the phone and putting it in my pocket?

Dont think it can hurt anything. You can also press the home button to wake it up.

I doubt it could be bad for the iPhone. At least, I hope it's not because I push mine all the time.

That's what it's for. That is the "sleep" function of the button and I would imagine it is mainly there to conserve battery life if your auto-off is set to an extended period, and to prevent accidental button press.
