Just joined these forums, i'm currently in N.Y but i'm from england i'm going to buy an unlocked iphone today it's v1.1.1 with installer.app etc already to go.

Firstly will maps work back home?

Secondly I have already updated my mac to itunes 7.5 will that be a problem e.g will that try to update my iphone without telling me?

I hope you aren't paying more than 399 USD for the phone, because if you are, you're getting ripped off. You can jailbreak the phone yourself for FREE.
That being said, all stock apps should work fine with 2 exceptions. Youtube might not work, and you definitely will not have Visual Voicemail - unless you activate the iphone for the O2 network.
