This might be a silly question but I thought I should ask to be safe. I have an iPhone version 1.0.2 unlocked via ibrickr. Can I install 3rd party apps via installer.app?? If I do, will this brick my phone??

Just another question. How do I install installer.app if my phone was previously unlocked with ibrickr. Do I have to go through ibrickr again and reinstall it?

Now i probly have a dumb question, what does unlocking ur phone good for other than useing it with a different carrier?

Unlocking your phone is for using a differant carrier, or i think poeple did it for something when they travel but other than that, dont unlock unless you wanna use a differant carrier basicly.

I have an unlocked 1.0.2 but installer icon is not in my springboard, so I cant install anything, I suppose the guy who sold it to me erased the icon after jailbraking/unlocking, any way to get the icon back on the springboard?

tought of running apptapp again on the phone, but im afraid it will lock again or act weird on me...

any suggestions? thanks!

Download a program called iBrickr. It runs on a Windows machine and has an earlier version of installer as one of the available applications in it. That will at least get you a copy of it on your phone again.
