So you installed the i.unlock.no source in Installer, ran the Virginize script on your 1.0.2 unlocked phone, and then upgrade to 1.1.1 and reunlocked the phone with anysim 1.1 no problem?

Thanks for answering my questions.

Now, when I revirginize my phone, will I lose all my info or does everything stay in tact?

And does my phone relock?

Nope, you don't loose a thing. All it will do is give you the "Please insert a vaild sim" message every once in a while

It will not re-lock your phone also.

after revirginizing your phone everything will stay the same except that it won't recognize the simcard.... (this is what happened to me after using the revirginizing method on i.unlock.no)

your phone will be relocked( showing the "activate using itunes" screen) AFTER you upgrade to 1.1.1

Sorry to ask so many questions, I just really don't wanna mess this up.

So I run the revirginize script, and after I'm done, everything will be exactly the same except my T-Mobile SIM won't work anymore. Now I go into iTunes and update to 1.1.1. After I'm done with this, everything on my phone will be gone, my contacts, music, everything, as if it were new in box. Then I just unlock the phone like I've been doing with new 1.1.1 phones and then resync in iTunes to get all my contacts back on. Right?

when you open installer it should automatically check to see if you have updates to install. and my installer updated automatically, too. weird. can you see if there is an update for installer in the latest packages folder?

is there a way to manually update it or do i have to rejailbreak my phone?

bfakhroo
11-19-2007, 04:31 AM
click on update you should see an update for the installer or if you're on 1.1.1 i think by going to jailbreakme.com you'll get the installer app...(but i don't know what happens if you already have installer and your phone is jailbroken and again you enter the site) so becareful if you're not on 1.1.1 then you better update and or if you're on 1.1.1 a restore won't hurt since it takes about 5 mins to jailbreak + unlock... good luck

the youtube problem is fixed and IF you still have problems with youtube (very very rare) there's a fix that you can install which will fix youtube in 1 minute so don't worry about youtube it should be ok.. atleast my youtube worked fine by using this method (jailbreakme.com)

You can manually add a source by editing /var/root/Library/Installer/PackageSources.plist.

No need to restore or even to update Installer (you'll get that in 1.1.1).

will this work on a 1.1.2 out of the box?

I mean, downgrading to 1.1.1 adding that source, downgrading the 1.1.2 baseband to the 1.1.1 baseband and the unlocking with anysim 1.1?

http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum/images/icons/icon4.gif Out-of-Box 1.1.2 IMPOSSIBLE to unlock currently
The OOB 1.1.2 iPhones come with a new bootloader, version 4.6, while prior iPhones come with version 3.9, including upgraded 1.1.2 iPhones. This means that if you have an OOB 1.1.2 iPhone, you cannot unlock it currently! The hackers are working hard to figure it out, and you can check their status by going to this webiste:

http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dgzw9xs_0gfhxns

Check the bottom right hand box in the table. Do you see the big red No there? That means it's still impossible. Wait for that to turn to Yes and then head over to hackint0sh.org > iPhone > Unlocking to learn how to do it.

So if you are trying to unlock an OOB 1.1.2 iPhone, give up now and stop fretting about it because you will fail.

Has anybody that has an unlocked 1.0.2 and upgraded to 1.1.1, upgraded this to 1.1.2? if you have, do you just do the same steps as you did to go to 1.1.1 except the revirginize thing? meaning, do download the 1.1.2 zip file, upgrade it to that, jailbreak using the same method as the first, and then use anysim to unlock?

Thanks guys.

iPhone 1.1.2 (Updating from 1.0.2 or 1.1.1)

General Status: Problematic

Unlocking: Works (with workaround)

It seems that the dev team pointed out that anySIM 1.2 can NOT be run on an upgraded 1.1.2 iPhone. In fact, it can even break your baseband (which it did for me - fortunately I could restore the baseband afterwards). This will NOT work with the 4.06 bootloader (aka 1.1.2/UK/DE/US out-of-the-box iPhones) This WILL work with the 3.9 bootloader. It is highly recommended to run anySIM 1.2(.1u) in iPhone firmware 1.0.2. Here is where we are: anySIM 1.2 will NOT run on 1.1.2 (upgraded) firmware as it will crash while running. If you want to upgrade to 1.1.2, you have to do the following:

RESTORE iPhone to 1.1.2 (to get the new baseband installed)
RESTORE iPhone to 1.0.2 (will not downgrade the baseband, requires DFU!)
Jailbreak, activate, install and run anySIM 1.2(.1u) – after running it you should be able to make calls on 1.0.2!
RESTORE iPhone to 1.1.1
Use the jailbreakme.com method (see links in the 1.1.1 section!) to jailbreak and activate 1.1.1.
Use Installer.app to install OktoPrep (from the Tweaks 1.1.1 menu) (IMPORTANT)
UPGRADE (not RESTORE) to 1.1.2.
Install a patched lockdownd to activate your iPhone (see below).
anySIM 1.2 crashes on firmware 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 right after "Copying firmware..."
This is because the developers didn't package the app correctly. To fix this, rename the downloaded anySIM file (might appear as a folder on Mac OS X right after download) to "anySIM.app", then upload it to the iPhones /Application directory. Now the unlock process should run flawlessy.

You might also need to do one or more of the following steps:

If you are using your iPhone in a country mentioned in the 1.1.2 OOB section,
you have to install a patched version of AppSupport. (See above!) Activation: Works

There now is a prototype/beta of a patched lockdownd. You can download it here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/69414087/lockdownd-1.1.2.zip.html (http://rapidshare.com/files/69414087/lockdownd-1.1.2.zip.html)
To test this, you will need SSH access to your phone (which you should have if you are reading this), then do the following:

Log into your phone via ssh.
Navigate to /usr/libexec/
Rename the file "lockdownd" to "lockdownd_orig" (# mv lockdownd lockdownd_orig)
Upload the lockdownd fro the zip file above.
Set the file permissions to octal 555 (# chmod ou+rx)
Reboot the phone - it SHOULD now be activated.

[Developers] There is a bit of information available on patching lockdownd.
Find it here: http://code.google.com/p/iphone-elite/wiki/112_Lockdownd_Patch (http://code.google.com/p/iphone-elite/wiki/112_Lockdownd_Patch)

[Developers] The dev team has made available a patcher, that allows you to patch the 1.1.2 lockdownd on your PC or directly on the iPhone. You can read more about it on their Wiki page, http://code.google.com/p/iphone-elite/wiki/Patcher.
Jailbreak: Works

The dev team released a working jailbreak solution with GUI. I'm sure sooner or later the said jailbreak will also implemented into tools like iNdepence, but it is really easy to use already. All you need is Java installed on your machine. If you are using Mac OS X and get the error that the device can not be found, this is probably because of a missing library. (To the devs: Jeez, how hard can it be to statically link this library into iPHUC?) Do this:

Download this file: http://rapidshare.com/files/61509655/opt.zip.html (http://rapidshare.com/files/61509655/opt.zip.html)
Extract the zip to your Desktop
Open Terminal.app and type the following:
sudo mkdir -p /opt/local/lib (hit return)
sudo cp ~/Desktop/opt/local/lib/libreadline.5.2.dylib /opt/local/lib (hit return)
Note: This ONLY works on INTEL Macs. If you are on Mac OS X and the jailbreak GUI won't start, do the following:

Open the Terminal and navigate into the directory where the "osx" file resides.
Simply type "./osx"
After a few moments the jailbreak window should appear.
What to do?:

Wait and don't upgrade yet if you have a working 1.1.1 or 1.0.2 phone. Unless we have a bullet-proof solution for activation and unlocking, there is not much use of upgrading to 1.1.2, suffing endless hours of pain, before finally downgrading to 1.1.1 to make it work again.
