I have bought a unlocked iphone of ebay, so just want to clarify a few things to avoid turning it into a ipod touch :tounge:
I get that the first time i connect to my mac, and run itunes it will suggest i update, and i say no ta and dont ask me again.
Can i still sync all other stuff, contacts, safari etc no problems?
Is there anything else i should do to stop the update?
Also if i restore the phone, does this relock or just delete apps and contacts etc..
Cheers

Not much else you can do to avoid the update... just when you click "restore" it will MAKE you update... unless you downgrade.

Ok, so i should never reset the phone.

Reset, as in turn it on and off is fine. But restoring will make you auto-update.

Ok ta, but all the other stuff like syncing is fine, just no restore, or letting itunes update it.

Correct... as long as you checked the "don't remind me" box about updating... you will be fine.
