Adding music to iPhone

HI...quick queston....Can you manually add music to the iphone or do you have to sync it with your itunes?? Is it possible to drag and drop music on it like you can with a conventional ipod??

there is no way to update files without sync'ing..
i'm sorry if this comes off as rude but there is SERIOUSLY another topic JUST like this on the forums..

Also my iphone is unlocked and I will NOT update...and can you tell me how google map works...EDGE or WIFI or both...and does it have worldwide maps??
