Those little buttons...

Yesterday I went into my not so friendly neighborhood AT&T store and took a look around. This is what I learned:

The iPhone is an entertainment "toy" that wont have any real world usefulness, that the screen is very fragile, that they are not sure that that it will actually have push e-mail, and that that store will not be carrying them.:wink:

Then she very kindly showed me the blackberry, the blackjack, and some other phone that had a raggedy slide up top that enabled you to see and use the buttons underneath. This is what I truly found out:

Many of these phone were almost as expensive, and in a couple cases, more expensive than an iPhone AFTER the 2 year discount...

The interfaces on these phones have much to be desired...

Aint no way I could stand using those 'wonderful', much touted raised buttons...

Perhaps my fingers are too large but with my flat-buttoned Samsung a900 I could text up a storm. With these things I could barely type hello... You can have your blackberry, I say iPhone all the way...

at least you know what you are getting into with established peices like the blackberry. As much as I want an iphone - I want to know how bad the bugs are going to be first.

Only time will tell but this much we know the iphone is the first good looking, sleek and stylish smartphone ever made. Its like the razor or smartphones. Bugs? Apple is the last company that would release a product with 'bugs'. This product is going to put apple in the cellphone market like nokia and motorolla and i doubt there going to put there name on a product with bugs and problems.

Only time will tell but this much we know the iphone is the first good looking, sleek and stylish smartphone ever made. Its like the razor or smartphones. Bugs? Don't use the word "smartphone" yet. It hasn't been classiffied as a smartphone or PDA, let's hope it IS classified as a smartphone and we can get a $20 unlimited Data plan instead of that rumored $40 one. >.<

seriously, i tried typing on a buddy's Treo the other day...i couldn't do it! the buttons were crappy and small

call me ignorant, but the touchscreen keyboard is actually a huge plus for me.

About bugs: there is absolutly no need to worry about or even mention that. Why? Firmware updates can fix those almost as soon as they are found. iPhone will reveive firmware updates over the air almost every week. These will add functionality and virsatility to the device often. You may see some new cool feature arrive this way.

It'll be just like the firmware updates you get from time to time on your Ipod.

It'll happen automatically when you sync with your computer.

I wonder how many people are living with problems with their phones that would be fixed if they upgraded to the latest firmware. The iPhone will be the first phone to make this process easy for everyone including the tech challenged :smile:.

It won't be like downloading some flashing software and flashing your RAZR wit the latest moto firmware. This will be automated. All you'll do it accept the updates and follow the on-screen instructions. Oh yeah! Don't disconnect your iPhone during updates.:(
