Are you a Mac or Windows user? (As your "primary" platform...)
It seems there's a fair amount of Windows users in here and if Apple can reach out to you guys with the iPhone, you're more likely to get a Mac at some point...

I disagree, I'm a Windows user, and the iPhone is not making me anymore likely to get a Mac. It works just as fine with Windows as it does with a Mac, so there is no need at all.

jtlax3, you will NOT regret it!!!! I switched and it has been glorious. You will find yourself being an apple sales rep to your friends. It eats away at you:angry:

thats what I like to hear!
I have been doing tech support since my senior year of high school and the business next door to mine has macs and never had problems. So I finally got fed up with the crap with my laptop and my desktop and saved up and bought a Macbook Pro I haven't looked back since and I cannot wait 'til leopard comes out it looks fantastic. I still do have a Vista desktop and a Dell XPS laptop for lan parties and gaming though. But after watching the keynote yesterday I may not have to touch a windows machine ever again in the next year or so.

For me, I don't really care. Both do the same thing. You can do everything on a mac that you can on a PC. It just depends on your own personal tastes. I find it more convenient to have a PC. Also, there are small things that you can't do on a Mac (right click or w/e) that I would do. But as for Mac Pride or PC Pride, it's just either way. They are both operating systems that do the same things. Even in the Mac commercials, you see that a PC is better for some things, and a Mac is better for others. But even then, you can do a lot of entertainment related things on a PC, and lots of business related stuff on a Mac. It again just comes down to personal taste.

you can right click the new mighty mouse has right click and on the laptops you just put two fingers on the mouse pad and click and that is right click as well as two fingers to scroll around pages and stuff which I have never seen on a windows laptop only the dumb things around the edge.

Mac... hands down. I rock garage band until my eyes burn. It's harder and harder to use a PC each time I am forced to. Unless apple folds, I don't foresee myself buying a PC, ever.
BTW, this new safari has a spellchecker... thats great.

A little interjection into the thread here...
So far this Mac v PC discussion has been very nice and civil. I've seen these degrade into very ugly battles numerous times on other sites.
Let's try to keep this one a nice and respectful conversation.
Thanks!!

Yeah, the NEW mouse. Alos, I have seen it on a Windows Laptop, both of my parent's to be exact. Only you can use one finger to do it, instead of two. So, seeing NEW there, where do you think they got the idea? 'Nuff said, they do the same exact things in different ways, hence the personal preferance.

Yes, good idea. Like I said before, it's just personal preferance. Screaming at someone about your opinion isn't gonna change their's. Neither will insulting them. It really just depends on how you would like to use your computer.

I have tried explaining that to several friends in various arguments and they don't get it. I found the best way to win the Mac vs Windows war that I had with my step dad and my mom and several other friends is just let them use mine and show them what it can do. Works everytime for me. kk thats the last thing I am gonna say bout this.

Right-click has been supported by Mac OS since before OS X. Macs have had the ability to connect third-party mice for even longer, allowing mice with more than one button.
Yep, it's a personal preference for sure: delete and reinstall (peecee) or get things done (Mac). I prefer the latter.

Right on... I never intended this thread to turn into a flame war for either side... just a friendly "I use this platform."
As Cols mentioned, this does seem pretty even so far... really puts to rest any notion of "only Mac fanboys will buy the iPhone" arguments.

I think Apples position in the marketplace is really humorous these days.
In computers they are the underdog that once almost died.
In music players they are the 1000 lb. gorrilla.
In mobile phones they are the young upstart.
It's hard for people to know whether to love 'em or hate 'em. :laugh2:

I find you saying this simply hilarious because many of you Mac enthusiasts say that Vista copied Mac OS. So if some of you say that, and then say Vista sucks, I find it humerous/ hypocritical.

I actually use both, but mainly my Windows system that I built. Although I prefer Mac OSX and Apple machines, most of my stuff is still on my Windows and I am more used to it. I still do use my iBook G4 pretty often, though.

last summer 2006 i got my first ipod... then i was so impressed with Apple/ MAc products that i completley switched from PC to MAc and for christmas 2006 i got my first Apple/Mac laptop/ computer (which i am using now) which is my G5. I think am the only kidm at school that COMPLETLEY switched to mac/apple... i LOVE it!:laugh2:
I use both.
At work, I use a Dell PC and an IBM Thinkpad laptop. At home, I have a SONY VAIO PC and a MacBook Pro. I've always loved Apple products though and I'm planning to buy the next generation iMac whenever it will be released.
I try not to bash either platform. I believe both has its purpose in the world and competition is good for everyone.

I have come full circle. When I was young, I had an Apple IIc followed by an Apple IIgs. Then during college, I changed to PC's since most of the programs I needed to use didn't have Apple versions. Since then I have been building my own machines and using the latest MicroSoft OS.
In March I purchased a MacBook Pro. I am still getting used to OS X, but I have to say that I like it better than XP (haven't used Vista yet). With Apple making the hardware and the OS, the user experience is much more enjoyable. As soon as I can afford it, I will be getting myself a Mac Pro (hopefully the dual quad core version). I am really looking forward to Leopard .
