Mail woes

Hey, just got my iPhone, and whenever I go to set up my Gmail account, and I enter in all of my information and hit send, it always tells me, "Can not connect using SSL, would you like to try without SSL?" So I hit yes, but it eventually just times out.

Can someone help me out?

Log in to gmail and change your POP settings, then try syncing on your phone.
