GUYS!!! I'mn sorry to report that most people CAN'T and I repeat CAN'T afford the $499 and $599 price tag!! SOOO.....

you may be wondering what i am getting at here.... NOT A SUPER BIG AMOUNT OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE IN LINE FOR THE IPHONE!! *besides my father because i will be at camp*

I mean I am SOOOOO lucky because i am graduating 8th grade and going to 9th and ACTUALLY GETTING AN IPHONE!! But everyone at my school except like 1 person (literlally) aren't getting this magnificient device! so than rules out about 400 people right there in the metro detroit area!!

Espeecially with hard times hitting for most people like gas and stuff... THEY JUST CAN'T AFFORD IT!! And most adults that work don't want it becasue THEY DON'T KNOW AND WON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK IT! That is like the #2 reason why adults aren't getting it!

And lets just look real deep now... most people in michigain where i live are OLDER SIENOR type people! so i'm kinda in the clear. And if we break it down more... unlike the PSP, XBox (+plus sequels), PS 1,2,3 and more PARENTS ARE NOT going to be standing out there for thier kids much less them selves!! The only reason why I'm getting the iphone (besides me being super fortunate respectfully) is becuase i get all A's and B's at school and have gotten on the National honor society for school and i am respectful to my parents and other adults. And i don't get into trouble like the others...

BUT like i said before i will not be in attendance in that "long line" because i will at spanish camp in georgia! otherwise i would soooo be out there with my kind and loving father! *dude like i said i am sooo lucky! thank you god!!*

So to all of you in the land that have the money, parents, or are downright blessed (and before my 80's music runs out) GET REAL!!! THE HYPE MAY BE BIG...BUT IN THE END LETS SEE HE WHO TALKS THE TALK ACTUALLY WALK THE WALK!!:2cool:

*respect to all... wow that just took like 10 80's songs! LOL! peace!:laugh2:

That's great to hear you are getting an iPhone and for the most part I agree with your theory that there won't be crazy long lines and sell outs everywhere.

However, you should reevaluate your paragraph format and structure your thoughts a bit more coherently so it's easier to read.

Sounds like a great dad.

I expect to see some of my middle school students with iPhones when we go back in August. It's not unusual today for middle school aged students to have very nice cell phones.

Keep up the good work in school and enjoy the Iphone.

if the iphone was around when i was in 8th grade, and i asked my parents for one, they would be dead today. why? because they would have laughed themselves to death. no way would they buy me anything even close to $500, let alone a frivolous iphone.

at the expense of sounding old, i think i'm going to say it...kids these days....

hey, lets not be mean. I support her right to voice an opinion. Even though I am getting an iPhone, and I am only 1 year older than her (freshmen). Maybe, more kids than you think will be getting the iPhone, hmlaa. I think it just depends on what area you live in. I live in a rich place. ebrunn, wow. Lets not stereotype people based on their age. You don't know if she saved up since Jan, after watching the keynote, like me. She must not be spoiled if she is on this site, because most spoiled people will get their parents to do it. I bet you she knows more than you about it. She must be pretty intelligent to know so much at such an age. She is not just asking her dad to get one for her with no reason, she did her homework. ATTN ALL: go to my site, iphonenotify.com, and put your pin in the iphonemap. Its under "The campers guide: part 1." This way you will be able to know who is getting an iPhone in your area.

You need to post the link to the iphonemap in your sig. That way everyone can just click on the link and they won't have to look for it.

She has a point, a lot of people are not going to get a iPhone because of the price. Then again, the PS3 costs a LOT and yet many people lined up for one.

I'm really lucky also, since although I don't have the best parents in the world, but they sorta make up for it by buying me things all the time. Heck, my dad even went to the midnight release of Halo 2 while I was sleeping and didn't know and gave it to me in the morning even though I didn't have time to play it until after school that day and when he went to get a new iMac for the family, he came out with 2, one for me and my sister! How awesome is that!

I live in a small city in Australia and you see little 12 year old girls walking around with $1000+ phones, not even knowing how good they are, only getting them because they are pink or something. Now that isn't fair to me.

I only think its ridiculous when people walk around with something that was super expensive and can't appreciate it. I don't care if you're 8 or 80. If you can't appreciate it for what its worth, you don't deserve it! If this little girl will take care of it, use it, recognize that she has a $500/600 device that someone was nice enough to buy for her (or support a plan for), then I think she 100% deserves it!

Some of you guys need to relax. She wrote a post is all. Her parents have money. She said nothing to make her spoiled at all. The way some of you are talking, it seems there are some sour grapes. She works hard in school. What do you expect her to do...get a job on Wall Street at her age? Good for her I say.

Anyways, she makes some interesting points.

Hopefully she will still be doing well in school so her folks will buy her a new one after you take it form her. When I was young you did good in school because that is what you were supposed to do and you didn't want your butt whipped by your parents. Nowadays I uess $600.00 phones are the incentive.

BTW we also walked uphill both ways barefoot in the snow and had to fight off polar bears with our notebooks when I was a kid. A polar bear would eat a kid nowadays no problem at all...no discipline I tell you!:tounge:

That's what is wrong in the first place, too many people worried about someone's feelings getting hurt, blah, blah, blah. Let kids be kids and quit trying to make them in to nothing but a bunch of spoiled crybabies. Let the boys act like boys, not girly men and no 8th grader needs a $700 phone, which is what it will cost with tax and accessories. Could I afford to buy my kids one, yes. Am I stupid enough, no!

thats nothing wtengel when i was a kid we had to walk up a 90 degree incline carring buckets of water while slavedrivers whipped us with spikes and then demons came out of the sky to possess us and we would fall into a black hole of assyss. Then our parents would laugh at us while they talked on there iphones.

seriously... we all are given the right of free speech, but disrespect isnt granted under that right nor any other body of law...

wtf is wrong with those of you who cant constructively criticize... makes me sick!

i for one have my own animosity towards parents/guardians buying this kind of technology for such a young crowd, but im not going to go ***** and moan about it on a forum such as this, much less a response to one's post about her happiness about getting the device...

very good point though, purses get snatched all the time. as a reminder, i would keep a close eye on your phone especially since your in middle school and kids at that age have even less respect for others things.

Welcome to EiP!

What's expensive to someone is all relative to their income level. Someone that makes $500K can spend 10 times as much on toys as someone that makes $50G. Their house can be ten times as expensive just like their car. While $50G guy can buy a nice new Toyota Camry for $28K, $500K guy can buy a Bentley for $280K.
