Ive been messing around with my yahoo push email today and it seems to be working. Did they finally work out the bugs? My yahoo mail used to be on a twelve to teentyfour hour delay.

Sometimes it work and sometimes it doesn't
mine only worked for a day or two since i set it up. I really wish we had stable push email and a louder alert for our phones.

I had no problems until last Thursday... I actually have two yahoo accounts, one works often the only hasn't updated since Thursday so I dunno what's going on. But it worked great for over a month.

Mine has been spotting at best but it as been working all day to day.

Yesterday evening I had to turn my phone off wait ten seconds and turn it back on because of change to my plan, but after I turned it back on my yahoo email started working again and i haven't had a problem since (knock on wood) so its worth a shot, turn it off for at least ten seconds and turn it back on and see if it starts working.
I setup the Yahoo mail thru' the standard iphone setup. I never get the email push to the iphone. I've to manually update. However the gmail works fine. Later, I found out if you use the pop.mail.yahoo.com (setup thru the setting - mail). The email is pushed to the iphone correctly and I get the notificaitons every 15 min if new email comes
However, I lost all the email folder if I use the pop3 access. If I use the IMAP access, I lost the push function but has all the yahoo email folders.
For those people saying push email working, are they using the POP or IMAP? I cannot get push to work on IMAP but I like to have all the email folders besides the inbox on the iphone.
Anyone has a solution?

you arent familiar with the term push email. push email is instant email notification. the second its sent to your yahoo email address your yahoo inbox shows a new message the exact same time your phone does. pull email is where the phone physically pulls the email from your inbox and notifies you every 15 min...

I have been having issues with Yahoo mail on my iphone since day one. Sometimes i do not get any mails at all. I find that when manually checking for mail it takes forever and I found its due to the Yahoo email account. It would be nice to have them all pushed as my blackberry did.

I just noticed this..has there always been a use push mail option in the advance settings in your yahoo account?

has there always been a use push mail option in the advance
settings ?
No! The "Use Push" option has not always been there. It was added in the 1.1.1 update.
My Yahoo! push has NEVER worked. Since the update, it now WORKS!:laugh2:
I will watch it in the coming days and update again on how it goes. But everyone that is having problems needs to try Yahoo push again. The option is under Settings> Mail> Your Yahoo account > Advanced > USE PUSH

Can someone else verify the PUSH works in 1.1.1? I have the 1.0.2 and am not able to upgrade. What is put in the 1.1.1 to make it work? Are the server address and port number different? Can someone post out the server and port and any new information put in the 1.1.1? I wonder whether I can use the "Other" Setting to setup the email rather than using the predefine YAHOO setting for 1.0.2 user.

Yea, mine works 100% of the time now. After alot of testing from my work email address to my iphone, I got numerous emails sent from various times during to day in less than 1 minute. Good ****.

I just got my iphone today. I set up my yahoo accounts easily. I do not know if they are pushing, though. (I should send an email from gmail to yahoo to test). I had trouble with them on the BB and had to resend service books and then they were fine. I do not know why the yahoo accounts went wacky there either...

Mine is only working sporadically. I have the iPhone set up to use push (in the iPhone's email account advanced options) as others have mentioned. Is there a push option I have to activate within !Yahoo mail?? I only have the free account setup because I still pay for my @sbcglobal.net domain name. So I have my sbcglobal.net emails forwarding to my yahoo account so I can push them to the iPhone.
Also, this is not quite like pushing email but I set up a rule on my Outlook to redirect any messages sent to me to my yahoo account. Then you can activate the rule if you know you are going to be out of the office or not around to check emails. However, I cant seem to get the emails to redirect. I set up the wizard right (I think). Shouldnt the rule work as a decent workaround?

So is anyone have consistent luck getting PUSH to work on 1.1.1? Ive been playing with it for the last 2 days and cant figure out why I cant get it to work smoothly. If you got it to work would you please share your settings?
Thanks

Now my iphone gets my yahoo mail which is really my business mail (through yahoo small business server). But when I tried to login on my desktop I get error code 2. It is not good. SO I have to read the em on the phone and respond on my desktop through gmail. I sat on hold for 5 min with yahoo and had to hang up and work.
Anyone else have this problem?

I just signed up for a personal address account with Yahoo. I can log in and receive emails through the personal address (me@mydomain.com), but I cannot send from it. When I changed my email account to me@yahoo.com, I can send and receive emails with no problems.
Unfortunately, I want to send from me@mydomain.com, not from me@yahoo.com.

This is also my problem. You wrote it up much better than I did. But I have the additional problem of not being able to login to my yahoo accounts at all on my desktop...

Sir,
The poster that asked you the question was asking a valid question. He asked is the Yahoo mail IMAP or POP3. You only described Push email to him. Yahoo mobile email is IMAP Push, IMAP (Interactive Mail Access Protocol) is what's doing the Pushing. To correctly answer the poster's question. Yes, it is IMAP...M

ok I have been getting really pissed off with this yahoo push mail not working.so I messed around with it and came u with this. When you enter your account settings for yahoo on iPhone, the box where it says description, you need to enter in your email address instead of "my yahoo account" or whatever else you have there.after I did that push worked flawlessly for me.another thing I noticed was if someone sends you mail with no subject it will go into your bulk folder and not notify you of new mail.i've been getting my email within 2secs.ok well i hope this will work for everyone.goodluck

YAHOO PUSH EMAIL DOES NOT WORK ON IPHONE..... PERIOD.
Here is my story. I have a laptop that has Trillian instant messaging on it. This program instantly notifies me when I have yahoo mail waiting (I dont know how, but it does). I have had my iphone for almost 2 months now and I am usually in front of my laptop with my iphone. Trillian will flash that I have recieved an email and display who the email is from. My iphone will do nothing. In fact it wont even check every 15 minutes. I will not get the mail until I open the email client on the iphone and it checks for mail. Today, 10/18 I updated to 1.1.1 and did not use the backup. I restored to original factory settings. Without touching any other settings on the iphone, I set up my yahoo account and sent a test email from my home computer. As soon as I pressed send mail, Trillian notified me that I have recieved a new email from myself. An hour later, my iphone still has not notified me. When I pressed the mail button, it started checking for mail and then it showed up. BTW, 1.1.1 has a button to turn on yahoo push email. This button was on but does nothing. Oviously, I am disappointed as this was a very important selling feature me. I would like to at least know the apple is aware of the problem and working on a fix. The silence on this matter is killing me.

Actually, my PUSH has been working perfectly. Someone else in this thread or another thread mentioned their PUSH worked after their Yahoo mail came out of beta. Mine was in beta for a while. On Tuesday this week I couldnt log into Yahoo all day, I got home and tried again and it was out of beta, since then my PUSH has been right on the money. It hasnt been within seconds, but it is quick enough to please me.

my yahoo push used to work then stopped working for no reason. I have not upgraded to 1.1.1 and the only thing different I did to my yahoo email was add subfolders to my email account.
Do I need to upgrade to 1.1.1 to get it to work? I dont want to cause I dont want to look for new ways to put ringtones on my phone.
