Does the Universal Dock's Apple Remote work with the iPhone?

I saw that the Universal Dock is compatible with the iPhone. The dock also comes with the Apple Remote. So I'm wondering will I be able to control my iPhone with the remote while it is on the dock? If someone can confirm this for me as soon as possible it would be great.
