What PIN do I need to use the credit code?

I'm confused. The Apple FAQ states that I was given a credit code and a PIN. The text only contained the 6-digit credit code. Where's the PIN? Also, the 888 number in the FAQ connects you to the iTunes gift card line which needs a 16-digit code?
