Omg can we stop giving this lame issue so much time and press already.
Lets keep it on the internet and in forums where it belongs, not clogging up my time to get the news on TV. Lets just move on. This is such a non story and just bunch of cry babies who feel they got taken advantage of. How about you report on some REAL news for a change. Im so sick of "info-tainment" news and want my REAL news back. God thats lame

Well look elsewhere because you are not going to get real news from FOX (LOL). But seriously- I'd be happy to see a story on this on the news.

These days even FOX is lame. Seems like people are more interested in Paris Hilton and if she went to jail or not then a war, the economy, an upcoming election, etc. Its getting to the point you cant tell one station from another and every day the news it turning into something that could be in the E! channel. I'm not saying that everything should be serious, but when I flip on a 24/7 news channel i want to know whats going on and dont want to have to sit through 20 mins on Hilton and 15 mins on Anna Nichole or some lame story or interview with the first person who bought an Xbox, iPhone or whatever. To me that isnt news. With all the channels out there it just sickens me that most news channels along with local news have stooped to 80% (ok i made that number up) of fluff.

Well, I'm from Houston but I'm afraid that I'm not THAT irked about the price drop. I bought the phone 10 weeks ago on iDay so I got to use it for 2 1/2 months for the $200. That's $20 a week for me. Had I known that the phone would have dropped in price by 33% 10 weeks later, I might have thought harder about it, but I would have still purchased it. I've been waiting for this thing for 2 years.

But I certainly do understand the anger that many true Apple fans are feeling. The early adopters are generally the biggest fans. And for Steve Jobs to charge his biggest fans an extra 50% is just an outright betrayal.

I wasn't an Apple fan so I bought the thing completely on its own merit, rather than wanting to possess one more iLife product. I knew what I was getting myself into, so I'm not surprised by the price drop. I'm a bit surprised by the percentage, but in all honesty. I'm glad about it. Now more people can afford it and there will be more pressure to make it even better than it already is!

I'm more upset that it's taking so long for a significant update. We can't copy/paste, send MMS messages, record video, or do many of the other usual cellphone necessities. It is the best cellphone ever, but they made it so at the expense of some important functionality.

Wow, ambulance chasing reporters on the forum now!

I hope you don't get your 'scoop' - cheap shot journalism IMHO

Absolutely agree, I hate the media most every day and this is perfect example -- only want the negatives and controversy -- where were you and why weren't you looking for an interview on how greatt this product is. Thanks for your post -- redirected my anger :tounge:. Whata load.

Any press about this, no matter from whom, might force Apple to do something.

Oh well, too late now I guess...

Haha! He showed one of my posts!!! Curiously he didn't show my reply in this thread where I said that I wasn't that irked about the price drop. He showed a different post where I said that many iPhone owners are feeling betrayed.

Anyway, I'm famous now. That's all that matters now. I hope you'll excuse me if I have to start looking down my nose at all of you now. LOL JK

I wasn't an Apple fan so I bought the thing completely on its own merit,

You didn't buy the phone on it's merits. You bought it on it's promise. The phone does not live up to the promise and hype. It is mediocre at best. With terrible performance all around on the Edge network.

rather than wanting to possess one more iLife product. I knew what I was getting myself into, so I'm not surprised by the price drop. I'm a bit surprised by the percentage, but in all honesty. I'm glad about it. Now more people can afford it and there will be more pressure to make it even better than it already is!

Which isn't very good.

I'm more upset that it's taking so long for a significant update. We can't copy/paste, send MMS messages, record video, or do many of the other usual cellphone necessities.

I rest my case

It is the best cellphone ever,

No, it's not

but they made it so at the expense of some important functionality.

You just contradicted yourself

With terrible performance all around on the Edge network.Actually, no. I did buy it on its merits. I knew that it wouldn't have the functionality that many were expecting. I had absolutely ZERO surprise about the phone. I was soooo like "told you so" to the macfans after we all got our iPhones. Unlike the brainwashed mac fans I knew that if Apple didn't advertise it, it wouldn't have it. So I knew that it wouldn't have MMS, a video camera, certainly not A2DP, and I had experience with Edge so I knew what I was getting into there. Edge is not bad at all.

I'm more upset that it's taking so long for a significant update. We can't copy/paste, send MMS messages, record video, or do many of the other usual cellphone necessities.

You are getting confused. Just because I knew that it wouldn't have these features doesn't mean that I didn't hope that they would add them later on. If there's anything that you should trust from a macfan, it's their relationship with Apple. And I did. Apple has let everybody down in this regard. Apple had changed in many macfan's eyes. It's why so many macfans 2 days ago were ready to chuck their macs for Vista boxes.

It is the best cellphone ever,No, it's notYou are certainly entitled to your opinion.

but they made it so at the expense of some important functionality. You just contradicted yourselfActually, no. You have to commit a logical falacy to think that I've contracted myself. You have to assume that it's the functions that make it the best. And that's just not true. As they say, "It's not quantity, it's quality."

You have to understand what makes it the best cellphone for me. Since you don't get that I can understand why you would think that I contradicted myself. But for everybody that agrees with me about it being the best, they will agree with me that it does miss important functionality. It's not the functions that makes it the best. It's the completeness of the phone. The fact that I can go to a website, click on a link and it pulls up a map, check out the information on the map and click on the telephone number and call the business. Everything is integrated so well. And it is actually quite stable (Safari notwithstanding).

I agree with you wholeheartedly, that what you call the "completeness of the phone" is awesome. Both in looks and functionality. It seems that we just have a difference of opinion of what constitutes mediocre in this case. For me it is the lack of a rather large amount of functionality. For you that is not. The "completeness" is not enough for me to call it the best phone ever, I need the functions that I depend on on a daily basis.

It's refreshing to find someone who is leavelheaded in this forum, and who is actually willing to make a well reasoned argument, instead of just yelling and calling people trolls and Apple haters, because somebody had the audacity to call there little beloved new gadget merely mediocre. Their fragile little egos just could not handle it. I guess, that's what happens when your cool depends on being seen with a certain telephone.

Funny thing is, I have owned Apple product longer than some of the people who like to yell have been out of diapers.
