Oooooor depending on your hotmail, you can forward emails from hotmail to gmail which does have pop3
I have 2 hotmail accounts one allowed fwding to gmail the other didnt, but did allow me to forward to other hotmail accounts, so i just fwded to the other hotmail acct that did allow gmail fwding. hey presto all email comes to the iphone.
