OK, I will ask my IT guy to open those ports but I think my problems start even before that because my attempt to set up this mail account fails right from the beginning BEFORE the Exchange account is even verified- in other words, I don't even get to the point where I get to receive even internal email..... Would the closed external ports cause the account verification to fail?

I will keep plugging away on this and thanks for the input and if you have any other ideas about what I should try I would be most appreciative.
