While I realize that making an innovative product, like the IPhone, that can do things that all other cell phones can't, isn't it JUST as important to make sure it can do things that nearly all other cell phones CAN? Here are a few things I noticed that I feel wouldn't just be a nice addition or change, but where I feel Apple really dropped the ball... I know a couple of them have been mentioned before on this thread, but I wanted to put my thoughts all together... My apologies.
1) Voice dialing via Bluetooth-How did they miss this? Also, for some reason, if my headset loses it's connection, I'm having a helluva time getting it to reconnect to the IPhone.
2) Alert tones-As someone else mentioned, this is a HUGE problem. The ring tones are not very loud, to begin with. Also, you need to be able to set a different alert for different things. The text message tone is WAY too quiet! Unless it's dead quiet and the phone is right next to you, you will never know you got a message. Which brings me to #3.....
3) Reminder alerts-If you don't hear the initial, very quiet chime, you'll never know you got a message unless you check your phone every couple of minutes. Another must fix.
4) Text messaging to multiple recipients at once, or mass messaging-This is a necessity for me. I work with a team of people and we tend to coordinate out scheduling via text message. So, when I schedule something, I text it to the everyone on my team. With the IPhone, I have to send it to each of them individually. This is something most phones offer. I understand the IM style interface may pose a problem with this. But wouldn't it be a simple adjustment to program the IPhone to (for example, if messaging two people) create two threads from the SMS menu, since the phone would actually be sending out two separate messages?
5) Picture messaging-Another big ball drop. What's the point of taking a picture w/ your phone if you can't immediately send it to your friend's phone? If I wanted to just store it and email it, I'd use a real camera!
6) Safari randomly goes back to the home screen sometimes.
7) Downloadable or custom ringtones... I'm getting mixed info about this. I hear you will soon be able to create custom ringtones on ITunes... What's the latest on this?
Maybe there is a way around some of these issues that I haven't figured out yet. If so, or if you feel any of these are incorrect, please let me know... Otherwise, who knows... Maybe someone on the IPhone product team watches this website for ideas, and will see these things as opportunities to turn a good product into a great product.
