If you're not all about the savings in gas then that is fine. Helping the environment can never really be a bad thing but there are other ways to do so than paying a premium for a hybrid.
Amongst midsize cars the Toyota Prius Hybrid (48/45 mpg) is $2.191 per mile to own while the comparable Nissan Versa (26/31 mpg) is $0.893 per mile.
I have nothing against Hybrids, they are just not my cup of tea.
