One of the posts in the thread you provided had a link to studies by CNW Research. I'm not going to pretend to know who they are let alone their validity but as I said in the other thread; the extra cost of the Prius outweighs to gas savings for several years when compared to a non-hybrid, similarly performing vehicle. If you're not all about the savings in gas then that is fine. Helping the environment can never really be a bad thing but there are other ways to do so than paying a premium for a hybrid.

Amongst midsize cars the Toyota Prius Hybrid (48/45 mpg) is $2.191 per mile to own while the comparable Nissan Versa (26/31 mpg) is $0.893 per mile.

I have nothing against Hybrids, they are just not my cup of tea.
