just an update... I finally managed to get this to work. I had been using a DLO antiglare protector. Now I'm using a Power Support, which is a bit more narrow. After several tries (and 3 discards protectors) I managed to get it centered just right so that the case didn't cause any bubbles. I did find a small piece of dust under the protector, but the thought of starting over yet again is too much to bear!
