Best thing.. Control the phone and iPod through the front panel.
Mm... Not really. iDA-X001 is not compatible with the original iphone or the 3g

The Pioneer DEH-P700BT is closer, but still has problems. It's 'ipod' compatible, not iphone... People complain that after hanging up from a call, the unit doesn't resume playing without disconnecting and reconnecting the iphone. Also, some find that it forgets the bluetooth pairing occasionally

There is some buzz about the new sony xplod CDX-GT630UI , but again, support is for the "ipod" not "iphone"

I hate to say it, but it will probably be another year before we see any really decent in-dash solutions for the iphone or the 3g. I've had the same problem looking for desktop/portable speaker accessories... The device is just too new.

In the meantime, you might check out this add-on from Motorola -- The IHF1000.

If your stereo has RCA jacks in the back, this will give you the ability to take calls and listen to music on your car stereo... the only thing missing is the ability to control the iphone from the stereo.
(This website is blocking out the url above... its store.i-p-h-o-n-i-a-c-s.com without the dashes. Really lame censorship, guys.)
