Personally, I don't really see myself using all these social networking additions... friends, blogs, etc. It's nice to have the features, I suppose... but it's all too myspace for me. No offense. It's just not why I come to this particular forum (well, I do come for the people, but I can interact just fine with them through the traditional forum facilities).
But that's just me.
