this is my own 2 cents:
first off- i dont think there will be a new iphone released in U.S. for atleast a year, reason being if they release one within 6 months or soon after everybody that bought iphone 1.0, most of the people that will want an iphone 2.0 will have bought 1.0 and they will still have atleast 1 year or more on their 2 year contract.
second- if you look at ipod prices, they have been the exact same since they came out, they have gotten better every version that comes out, but the price has been the same
