Check his contacts ion Contacts section of the phone and make sure that the ringtone for that contact or contacts is not set to Strum. If so, you need to set it to default.
As for the lines, does he happen to have Screenshot installed? It's been known to create lines like that.

Doh !! You were spot on with the ringtones... He had assigned strum to my name.. Sorted that one out now.
Double checked to see if he had screenshot installed - but not there.
Any other ideas? Thanks for help so far...
