I never really considered the Zune because I had a Mini and a Nano before the Zune was even announced and now I have an iPhone. They do seem like a novel idea by Microsoft but it definitely didn't catch on as well as they had hoped. Also, the pricing point difference from the iPod seemed to be the main thing it had going for it, but now the 80GB Zune and the 80GB iPod Classics are the same price, so why go Zune?
Sorry to mini-thread jack here, but how are you liking the iPod Classic? I'm about to order a 160GB one myself and as of yet I haven't seen too many user reviews of it. I would naturally assume that it's in the same working order as other Apple products but you never know. No issues with poor sound quaility or anything?
