No one has yet to explain the cell phone activation. I'd imagine you can get the phone, sync with iTunes and use it as an iPod, and perhaps even WiFi. But to make calls and use text messaging, Edge network, etc., you'll need to activate it somehow. As I understood it, Jobs was to explain this in the Keynote yesterday, but did not. Sources say that you'll activate online with your Cingular account, or call in to activate, as you would a pre-paid cell phone you buy off the shelf. That would make sense. There's no way they can handle sales AND activation all at the same time, not to mention that the iPhone is being sold at Apple stores, at AT&T, and online.
