BGR has been in contact with person at Apple, and has ferreted out how the company plans to make FaceTime work on the iPod Touch and iPad. Right now, in order to connect with someone over FaceTime, you need to have their phone number — which obviously won’t work on devices that aren’t hooked into a cellphone system, like the iTouch and iPad. So how’s Apple going to handle it?

According to BGR’s source, you’ll link the device to one of your email addresses, and Apple will use push notifications to let you know when someone’s trying to get hold of you.

Of course, the first thing they need is front-facing cameras, but I’m sure we’ll see that soon.
