French website Mac4Ever have posted a rumor that Facetime compatibility will be coming to iChat and Windows. Here’s what they say (via Google translate):

To begin, iLife ’11, which we announced this summer (with the disappearance of iDVD), could eventually go out very soon. Furthermore, it is rumored thatApple is preparing to leave FaceTime for Mac and PC, the Mac version coming to settle down in the iChat software.

Mac4Ever has a decent record with leaks, predicting the iPad, Magic Mouse, new remote, and the 2009 MacBook refresh.

The fact that Facetime isn’t already integrated with iChat screams as to how badly the two services need to go together. Getting it on to Windows might be a bit more tricky, but it needs to link up with Apple’s desktop videochat software ASAP.

This combination seems like it would be so simple, and it’s so blatantly lacking. Our customers even ask US about compatibility, and we wish we had answers! We’re releasing with Skype options soon, but having the superior Facetime connection for users on computers would make business a lot easier for all involved. I’m sure many other companies are experiencing the same thing, though we’re the only one in this exact market so far!
