Facebook has quietly released an update for its iOS app, which actually provides some pretty major updates despite the small version increase. Facebook 5.1 brings overhauled live chatting and the ability to send gifts — but the real fun is on the image side of things.
For one, you can now upload multiple images at a time, which is great for making albums on the fly, or showing off a bunch of shots from a single event. The other big new addition is that filters have finally made their way into the Facebook app. That’s right, the eternal march of mediocre retro filters continues, and are now natively supported. If you hit the magic wand once you’ve uploaded a photo, you’ll be able to apply filters to your heart’s content, endlessly annoying all your friends.
There were apparently some login bugs when the app first came out, but they appear to have been resolved.
