Facebook, fresh from their overhyped Graph Search announcement, today announced that iPhone users could enjoy free calls over WiFi in the US using Messenger for iPhone. The process is incredibly easy.
- Open up Messenger for iPhone (or tap on the Messages icon within Favorites on the Facebook app)
- Tap on a contact
- Select the ‘i’ icon at the top right
- Tap on Free Call (accessible if user is available)
The result will be a notification on the incoming call for the person you are trying to reach. If you are not using WiFi, this will utilize your data plan, so pick your poison. For those trying to stretch their minutes, this seems like a good and free option.
