Facebook Acquires Acrylic, Makers Of Wallet And Pulp

Evidently today is a day for buying out. Sparrow was just purchased by Google, and we’ve just heard that Acrylic has been picked up by Facebook. Acrylic is an iOS and Mac developer who are known for the RSS reader Pulp, and the secure information manager Wallet.

As with the Sparrow purchase, our first concern is what will happen to the apps and their users. Unfortunately, it looks like this will be the end of any further support for the titles:

Our products and services have not been acquired by Facebook, and while there are no plans for further development on them, Wallet and Pulp will continue to remain available for download and purchase in their current form. We’ll certainly be the first to let you know of any updates or changes here in the future.

As someone who uses Wallet on both iOS and Mac, this is a major kick in the teeth. First Sparrow and now this? Ouch.
