One of the main selling features of the iPhone 4S, despite it’s beta tag, is Siri. Using Apple’s intelligent assistant, you can make calls, send texts or ask pretty much anything. Siri finds locations, will create reminders and will search the web. With Siri being available only for the iPhone 4S, this opens up the opportunity for developers to offer apps with ‘similar features’. One such application is Evi, developed by True Knowledge, a semantic technology company based in the UK.

Evi (App Store link) promises Siri-like features allowing you to seek out information from the web. It’s essentially a voice search app of sorts. It does not offer the deep integration available with Siri. You won’t be able to make phone calls, create new reminders or anything that is intertwined with Apple applications.
It’s priced at $0.99 and reviews have been less than stellar. If you pick this app up, set your expectations well below Siri.
Sounds like they’re trying to take a bite out of Vlingo’s territory. Vlingo works very well for what it does.
Apple is allowing it because it doesn’t see this as a threat. It hasn’t worked for me yet. Keeps giving a server is down message.
Very much legitimate! If you have a dollar to toss away check it out!
