This morning, Arstechnica shows us photos of an early iPhone prototype. The images were obtained from a former Apple employee, who worked on the team responsible for the original iPhone. The device looks absolutely nothing like what originally launched in 2007. The 5×7 display looks more like a photo frame than a mobile device. It was nearly 2-inches in thickness. The photos were taken in 2005 and it’s nothing short of amazing how this ended up transforming into the iPhone.
For development purposes, the iPhone prototype was outfitted with ethernet, printer, serial and USB ports.
Ars has a full gallery up and it’s worth browsing from a historical perspective.
