Developer Manages To Use Siri To Control His Thermostat

Enterprising developer @plamoni has discovered that by utilizing his own third-party server, he can use Siri to handle some mundane household tasks which include adjusting his WiFi capable thermostat. In the demonstration video below, the developer is able to use Siri to check the temperature, on the inside. Insanely cool.

The hack does not require any jailbreak, but is of course limited to the iPhone 4S, the only device that currently supports Siri. The dev has made the source code is available at Github, along with directions on how you can set up your own proxy server. This might be the next best thing to using thenest.
